BalcĂłn del RĂo Sayalonga by Ruralidays
Old flour mill, restored and enabled as a rural house for holiday tourism, located near Sayalonga, in the province of MĂĄlaga, Andalusia.
The mill was built on the ruins of a Moorish construction burned in 1572 by its owners during the conquest period. The result of the restoration has been this rural house whose walls convey confidence due to their resistance to the passage of time, while ensuring protection against climatic excesses. They highlight the rustic decoration that harmonizes with the environment, while showing respect for the past in the conservation of traditional elements.
The wifi is located in the living room, it reaches the bedrooms with difficulty due to the wide walls of the house.
The generosity of its square meters makes it ideal for hosting large groups of family and friends. Right next door is another rural house with 20 more beds that can be combined with this one for groups of 40 people.
It is distributed in thirteen bedrooms, eight bedrooms equipped with two single beds each except one of them with a double bed and 4 bedrooms with 1 single bed in each bedroom. It has a spacious living room with a fireplace, three bathrooms with a bathtub and one with a shower, and a perfectly equipped kitchen. In addition, the whole family can get together to eat together, thanks to the huge dining room with a large table.
All bedrooms have an electric radiator, the use of which has an extra cost.
Its privileged exterior is honored by the passage of the Sayalonga River, with the vegetation and fauna that accompany it, and that have politely offered to be your hosts during these days of vacation. For your leisure moments, on the terraces you will find a basketball court, private pool and barbecue.
Access is paved, except for 1.5 km which is by lane.
For large group reservations, please remember that the house can only be accessed by vans with a maximum of 9 people, as it is located after a bridge that makes maneuvering difficult for a bus.
For the price we paid, the house should have had many more details. In the kitchen: there was only one dishwasher with a 5-minute program, which meant we constantly had to be ready to unload and reload it. In the end, it was faster to wash the dishes by hand for 18 people. There werenât any proper knives, so we had to buy some just to peel fruit and cook. There were no tablecloths, so we had to eat directly on the wooden tables, which was quite uncomfortable and not very hygienic. When we arrived, the beds were not made, and we had to make them ourselves (the bedspreads that were on them were extremely dusty). The bathrooms didnât provide shower gel or shampoo, nor any shelves to place our toiletriesâthese are basic details that make life easier, especially in big houses where you have to share spaces.Overall, the house is isolated and very difficult to access. For a weekend itâs fine, but for a full week I would not recommend it.On the positive side, the pool and the spaciousness of the house were very good.
We stayed a week in Irene's big beatiful country house a group of 23 persons, between 9 years old and 65. We were all very happy. The house is clean, the kitchen is well equipped, and the location is beautiful. Irene was kind and always ready to help. I highly recommend for happpy people who would love to enjoy a beautiful Andalusian landscape.
