Boathouse Efficiency Waterfront Cottage near Acadia National Park

The Boathouse is an efficiency cottage that accommodates 2. It has everything you could ask for in a romantic cottage getaway. The Boathouse is a waterfront cottage located on the shore of Hodgdon Pond, a fresh water pond on the west side of Mount Desert Island. Hodgdon Pond is very quiet and peaceful and is bordered by Acadia National Park that protects the watershed from future development on the east side of the pond. From the front deck, you look right out over the beach area and dock where there are kayaks, canoe and rowboat for the free use of our guests. The dock and use of boats is shared with one other vacation home.

Amenities include: The efficiency of one room living area with a queen size bed, kitchen with dinette, range and refrigerator and two chairs to relax in. The separate bathroom has a new walkin shower. There is a land line telephone where cell service can be limited due to the location. Satellite cable TV, and internet is also provided. The spacious deck has an outdoor grill. Newly updated heating and air conditioning system.

The recreational, cultural, and dining offerings in this area are phenomenal. Acadia National Park is at your fingertips.

The Park has nearly 32,000 acres of land which offers unequaled beauty and ocean front access. Over 55 miles of carriage trails provide hiking and biking with vistas of unrivaled beauty.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay during an Acadia getaway. My husband and I spent our honeymoon here and loved how quiet and private our stay was. The property is immaculately kept and just a short drive from everything you want to do on the island. We will absolutely stay here again when we come back to Acadia!

The boathouse is a beautiful place to stay. Just sitting in the quiet overlooking the lake is enough to bring me back. I am glad there was not much available on the other side of the island as it was busy. Staying in this side of the island and driving to bar harbor gave us a chance to explore the island on our way over. Very much recommend this place, it is all it claims to be.

Magical boathouse!

The boathouse provided such a lovely home base for my partner and I as we explored Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park for a week. Everything we needed was provided, from extra linens to laundry supplies to kayaks! My partner wants to send a special shout out to the small round fan that gave the perfect amount of white noise and helped him sleep so soundly each night. The boathouse is 20-30 minutes from Bar Harbor/Acadia depending, which was a great distance for us to have a quiet, peaceful stay away from tourists and traffic without taking a significant amount of time to travel. We could easily hike in the morning, return to the boathouse to rest and clean up, then go out to Bar Harbor, Bass Harbor, or Southwest Harbor for dinner and shopping. We already can’t wait to return!

What a tranquil getaway

The Boathouse was just the perfect place for my husband and I to stay while exploring Acadia. The view from the dock was so serene and the perfect spot to enjoy a good book. The Boathouse itself was just the perfect amount of space for two. The home was clean, heating/cooling system worked great, bathroom was spacious, and close to bar harbor and other Acadia area attractions. Would definitely stay again.

Peaceful Park Visit

We enjoyed this cozy stay for two - it was a perfect size for us, had all we needed (except a washer and dryer - but no room for it). The bathroom is beautifully done with a 5 fee5 filed shower and fluffy towels. Bed in this studio was comfortable with ample blankets. The host supplied a notebook with helpful information about the area and visiting Acadia National Park which is 4 miles away. We did not get directions from VRBO but the host was kind enough to provide them when asked. Our stay was too short to use the row boat or canoe but if we return, we’ll plan to try them out on the pond. We recommend this stand alone studio-house to others.

Incredible Getaway

We had the most lovely stay at the cabin, tucked away in the woods and right on the water—it was incredible! The photos did not do it justice. We loved the kayaks, row boats, and canoe boat and we had such a wonderful time. We can’t wait to come back!
