We are family of four and all of us enjoyed this special opportunity to stay in one of this Korea Traditional Bukchon House for 2 nights. We booked a room with private toilet, it was clean and neat, and spacious enough to open our suitcases.
There’s minibus service that stops in front of the house, which takes you to and fro the nearest metro Anguk station. Otherwise it’s about 8mins walk to Anguk station from the house.
Gyeongbokgung is within walking distance from the house, there are many nice cafes and shops to visit on the way. The hosts are a pair of old couples who are very friendly and helpful. The can communicate in Mandarin and even teaches us some simple Korean languages!
They make us Kimbap and Korean Pancake as breakfast, which were very tasty!
We are a family of three adults staying in the family room. The room is spacious and comfortable. We were able to open all three of our suitcases and still have rooms to move around. The heated floor is very warm and made the room very cozy. A traditional Korean breakfast is included and all the ingredients are homemade by house mama. We stayed two nights and different dishes were served each morning. Both house mama and house papa are very friendly and hospitable. They taught us about Korean culture and the Korean alphabets even though there is language barrier (Google translate is your best friend). They also lent us hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) to wear and take pictures inside the guesthouse. They even pose with us and took pictures with us. Their hanbok are nicer and fancier than many of the ones we saw for rent on the streets. there is an option to rent the hanbok for visiting the palaces but we opted to just take pictures inside the guesthouse. Overall, we had an excellent experience staying at Bukchonmaru. The walk from the subway station is direct and easy and brightly lit at night. We would recommend Bukchonmaru to anyone looking for a cultural experience and some great homemade Korean breakfast.
One thing to note is that the guestrooms are on the upper level and there is no elevator. It took some lifting but we had no problem moving our three suitcases up the stairs and into the room.
Our stay at Bukchonmaru made our first visit to Seoul extra memorable
To get to the stay you will passby many shops which is a very nice walk. Located somewhere up slope and able to view the landscape view of the hanok village. Accomodation provide a chance for you to try on the hanbok.
We wanted to stay in the heart of Seoul and were pleased with the location. We also wanted an authentic experience and we certainly got it: from the decor to the meal, purely South Korean.
This B&B is a proper hanok building with all its charm and coziness. The family who runs the place is very friendly and helpful, even though not all of them speak english.
The place is located on the upper part of the neighbourhood, within walking distance from one of the palaces and from Insa-dong. The area offers plenty of choice for quality restaurants and cafés.
The breakfast served at the B&B is lovely, cooked from fresh and changes every day. The rooms and breakfast area have heated floor which is quite nice on cold nights. The place is clean and neat and the only negative aspect is the smell coming from the bathroom at times - but it's a feature of the whole neighbourhood rather than the B&B.
Overall it was a great, relaxed experience and a place I would recommend to others.

We had a great stay here - 3 nights. Breakfast was excellent and staff very friendly. Would recommend staying here. Rooms were super clean and so was the shared bathroom.
the couple was really helpful though they did not speak much English. Our luggage arrived late, we had to call the airline. They really helped us a lot and were very friendly and nice people! The breakfast was authentic with vegetable from their own garden. The view over Seoul was quite impressive. The room was clean and large enough. They even brought extra pillows! I can just recommend it!
La Corée c'est super. Cette famille est très gentille. Le kimchi le matin ça demande un peu d'entrainement mais why not. Attention, ne mettez pas la clim trop fort même s'il fait chaud ou vous aurez froid pendant la nuit. Bon voyage !
