Spacious and cosy, bush setting
Excellent location for lake activities and bush walks. This bach is one of the closest to the the lake in St Arnaud. Also convenient for more adventurous tramping expeditions. Located on the edge of Nelson Lakes National Park. Warm, spacious living in a solidly constructed bach with peaceful surroundings. Efficient woodburner and also electric heaters. Includes WiFi internet. Adequate parking for car and boat.
Extras: Cleaning (Optional, NZ$75.00 per stay); NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels);
We spent a long weekend in this warm, cozy and immaculate property with all needed amenities. It is very close to the beautiful lake and highly accessible walking trails.
Our hosts were gracious and communicative and we would certainly stay here again when next in the neighborhood.
An old wooden bach in a great location. Well insulated and easy to heat with a woodburner. Bedding options less than ideal (no mattress cover and thin towels), aged furniture, some in need of repair. Plenty of hot water (new tank) but no shower gel for the shower. New oven and fridge but very old utensils (some in need of replacement) and a non-functioning toaster. Great close access to the lake and the lakeside walks. With thoughtful and careful input this could be an excellent bach.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
St Arnaud is a familiar stamping ground that we have fond memories of. It was great to get back and experience the place, do the outdoor things when the sun shone, and do indoor things when it rained. The bach is nicely located with easy access to the lake and peninsula walk. It is also a great base to go mountain biking from. On the days it rained, there was plenty of space to play board games, and the large window seats were fantastic for blobbing out on or watching the rain and the shifting clouds across Mt Robert.
Thanks for a great stay.
Enjoyable stay to visit the Rainbow ski area. very warm house,
lots of furniture and enough space for 2 familys.
wifi a bonus!
1 minute walk to the lake
The Bach was exactly as advertised, the bellbirds all around a bonus, and a quick 1 minute through the bush to the lake. Perfect spot for a couple of days walking.
This was one of the quietest places we've ever stayed--very peaceful and restful. The woodburner (wood provided) worked great and we enjoyed our nights by the fire playing games (there are lots of board games). We didn't use the wifi, but it was nice to know it was there if needed. The views of trees from every window (including lying in the bathtub) were lovely. Although not fancy, this home has everything you need for a great holiday. The town of St. Arnaud is just a short walk away, and so is the beautiful lake. Would definitely stay again.
