La Marea A Breathtaking Oceanfront Villa on Antiguaâs Northwest Point
Nestled amidst lush, tropical gardens on the exclusive island of Antigua, La Marea is a vibrant and inviting villa, full of character and Caribbean charm. Loved and lived in, this sun-drenched sanctuary is now available for guests seeking tranquility, beauty, and a true connection with nature.
Positioned on a private estate, La Marea offers panoramic,180-degree ocean views, where the horizon melts into the sea. Designed to blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living, the villa captures gentle breezes throughout its open spaces, while the abundant gardens provide natural shade and serenity.
Each room is thoughtfully crafted for relaxation, featuring unique Caribbean touches. The layout revolves around a stunning infinity-edge pool that seamlessly blends into the horizon, inviting you to move effortlessly from the bedside to the poolside.
The villa boasts multiple spaces for unwinding, including a picturesque gazebo perched above the oceanâperfect for lounging with the sounds of gentle waves or savoring a breathtaking sunset after another sun-filled day.
Though secluded and peaceful, La Marea provides convenient access to Antiguaâs best amenities, including shops, restaurants, and beaches. It serves as an ideal base for exploring the islandâs natural beauty and cultural treasures.
Accommodations This spacious oceanfront retreat comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests. The main villa features three en-suite bedroomsâone with a king-sized bed and two with queen-sized bedsâwhile the adjacent guest apartment offers two additional en-suite bedrooms, each with a four-poster queen-sized bed.
At the heart of La Marea is the great room, an airy, art-filled space where Caribbean works decorate the walls. This central living area is divided into distinct spaces: a cozy media lounge with TV and library, a dining area, a living room overlooking the pool and ocean, and a fully equipped kitchen with an outdoor barbecue. Surrounding porches and terraces offer ample spots for al fresco dining and quiet contemplation, all with breathtaking sea views.
La Marea is the perfect destination for those seeking renewal and inspiration. Here, time slows down, inviting you to savor lazy days by the ocean, watch pelicans and other birdlife, and marvel at the sailboats gliding across the sun-dappled Caribbean Sea.
Andrew was very helpful and the house is beautiful. It was a perfect quiet getaway for our family. We used the resort next door and many of Andrewâs recommendations including a Thai cook in the home. We loved it and were very appreciative!
No host will ever measure up after this experience. Andrew will literally help you take care of EVERY need! Car, reservations, beach and restaurant recommendations! The pictures do not do this place justice .. just perfect ! We will definitely go back and highly recommend.
I have rented numerous wonderful houses through VRBO in Europe and the Caribbean. The accommodating host, gorgeous property and views, superb kitchen and attention to comfort combined to put La Marea at the top of that list. Add the two friendly cats and the gazebo overlooking the water where we spent many hours and you have the perfect vacation spot.
This property has a very hands-on manager and staff available at all times.
Very large villa with massive pool and gardens all overlooking the ocean.
Weather was not great, but it didn't matter as the villa made up for it.
Highly recommend using Andrew's boat with the skipper for exploring the bays and coast that made it for us.
My daughter and I stayed 7 days in this peaceful and BEAUTIFULLY decorated oasis. We took Andrewâs boat out once which I highly recommend. No luck with the fish but we were able to stop at a very secluded beach to dive in for a swim! My daughter had to work whilst we were there and Andrew was EXTREMELY kind to pre-arrange a computer screen upon arrival. The Sonos speaker is excellent for music. The smart TV is really large and set to access âall the usualsâ. I would very respectfully suggest that a second small couch (or just one larger four-five seater couch?) might be more comfortable for families, and also a small side table/coffee table in order to have somewhere to set your cups of tea (or whatever youâre drinking!). Andrew is truly the most wonderful, friendly, accessible, reactive (and proactive!) host-honestly one of the very best Iâve ever had in all my years staying with both VRBO and âthe otherâ. Whatever you need, heâs there. The housekeeper Mercedes, although speaks not a word of English, is lovely. If (like me) youâre a naturally tidy/clean person accustomed to dealing with your own âhouse prideâ, it may take some getting used to but she cannot be faulted. She comes around each morning to tidy and clean the kitchen, do laundry, etc but Iâm sure if you prefer your privacy, Andrew would happily arrange for her not to come. The aircon in the bedrooms is excellent (and powerful) and an absolute massive relief to walk into. My only gripe here would be that there is no aircon in the main living areas, including the kitchen so youâll sweat a bit whilst cooking! ;) The house is open to the elements (and thereâs lots of breeze) so this would make it super expensive to cool, but am sure, like other Caribbean Islands, if it existed it would be amazing - and most people would pay the weekly fee for it (I definitely would have!). If youâre an avid cook like us, the kitchen leaves nothing wanting for, best kitchen-bar none! Please do yourselves a favour and search out the amazing street food from as many locals as possible - and all the street-side fruit stands, theyâre absolutely incredible. I have special mentions to âGCSâ in Morris Bay and âPCRâ cars from the airport (but per above, am not allowed by VRBO to say who they are which is extremely annoying). Regardless, do not look further-Andrew is amazing and his home is skilfully artful. A massive thumbs up from my daughter and I!!! âŠ. oh and the outdoor showers in the bathrooms are amazing! ;)
I donât normally write a review for a home unless the experience has been superlative and it was exactly that at la marea with Andrew at the helm of this stunning home surrounded by water. Our host was one of the best I have had the pleasure of encountering this far and all his years of experience in the hospitality industry has paid off, nothing was too much to ask.
From massages in the gazebo to Restaraunt reservations to getting our flat tire fixed, he did it all with efficiency and a smile. We enjoyed a day out on his boat as well so make sure to experience that whilst in beautiful Antigua as thatâs the best way to see the island.
La marea is a gorgeous home, beautiful and thoughtfully appointed with everything u need, brand new showers and bathrooms, well stocked big kitchen with everything u need to whip up a wonderful meal and tranquility when u sit in the living room and look outside into the clear blue waters with no other home in sight.
This is one of the most spectacular experiences we have had staying at a home and I suggest you look no further when booking your stay in Antigua.
We will be back for sure
Lots of love to your andrew

This was an outstanding experience, possibly the best of my many experiences with vrbo.com. The house was lovely, just as advertised. Proprietors Andrew and Maria were so helpful and available as they were staying at their apartment adjacent to the house. The kitchen was well appointed, a big deal for us as we like to cook. Two of the bedrooms' bathrooms had outdoor showers - what a treat! Andrew arranged some great experiences for us while there. We couldn't have asked for a better stay.
A lovely villa with indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the confluence of the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Its location means that there is always a breath of wind to help cope with the sun (although we were unlucky to get stronger winds for our week). Kitchen is well equipped. Epicurean supermarket 15 mins away has all you will need but prices are higher than in the UK. Communication with the owners was good with mostly prompt responses before the holiday (ensure you are sent the villa information beforehand as there is no info at the villa - assume due to Covid - and we struggled to remember everything that Andrew told us when we checked in). Niggly DIY jobs (delayed due to COVID) should not impact your stay. However, Antiguan roads may do so! Take care (especially at night). Bella Vita and Casa Roots restaurants very worthwhile and only 3 miles away but you may prefer to drive to them during daylight hours as pot holes mean it takes 15 to 20 minutes! Foxhouse is another good restaurant (close to the fairly empty Jolly Harbour) if you have a drive round the island.
These three words sums up the cause and effect of this magnificent Villa. I have never before had a vacation as soothing and relaxing as this one. The views are indescribable. They are way more beautiful than pictures can capture. The smell of the ocean, the constant sound of the water hitting the rocks, the perfect weather and gentle breeze on the skin, even the fruits and vegetables that we bought there in the market, had these stunning bright colors inside them and had such full flavor - this heavenly place feeds all five senses in full. Every part of the body derives pleasure from this majestic paradise. It's perfection.
As if this weren't enough, the villa has so much character. From the huge gorgeous pineapple chandelier, to the small little frog door stoppers, to the fascinating art and tables, and the chime chandelier in the kitchen which releases the most beautiful gentle sounds when the wind blows into the dinette... It's a place created with so much thought and care and interest. Everywhere we turned was something pleasant to see and experience.
We woke up to watch sunrise and went into our private gazebo to watch sunset every night. We had planned on using the boat and possibly going places, but we couldn't bring ourselves to leave this home. It was more than enough to fulfill our needs. The outdoor showers were just an extra divine touch of pleasure. Every part of this house was a dream.
On top of all that, Andrew, our host, was so kind and considerate and patient with us. He personally took on any request we had and made sure everything we wanted was done with such ease. We needed to get the covid tests done in a specific time and it was done. We had a special request for something personal that would require his attention and he went out of his way to do more for us. Our flight was leaving much later than checkout and he accommodated us without a second thought. Everything was easy and so pleasant.
Thank you Andrew for giving us the best vacation of our lives. We will be back. It's a promise.
Million dollar views, great property, nice host with good recommendations. We also used the boat with Jason as well which is great. Gated home in safe neighborhood with fantastic pool. Would recommend you book.
We had a wonderful time, the property could not have been better, it had everything we needed, we loved the resident kitty, we did not want to leave! The owner was out of town but totally made sure he kept in touch and made sure all of us were taken care of, we had his property manager Andrea, she was amazing and we really miss her. We also charted the boat, that by far was r best day ever, Jason the driver made our day, took us to some of the most beautiful places u could imagine, if u want to relax in heaven this is the spot!!!
La Marea is a stunning property, inside and out. The ocean views are breathtaking. The house sits on the northern point of the island so you get a wonderful sea breeze and few mosquitoes. Below the property, there is a small private beach which is sheltered and perfect for young children. The pool is large, clean and the perfect temperature. An evening cocktail in the cabana, while listening to the waves, is just magical.
Inside the house is beautifully furnished and immaculately clean. The photos simply do not do it justice. From comfortable white sofas, beautiful wall art, a fantastic office space (with super fast wifi), beds, with fresh crisp linens which are so comfortable - the list goes on. If you love to cook, the kitchen is wonderful - spacious and well stocked with everything you need. There is a large supermarket just 10 mins from the house ( the house is already stocked with essentials like oils, vinegars, herbs & spices, coffee, tea plus wine and cold beer). If you like to eat out, there are many great restaurants nearby.
By far the biggest plus for this house is the gracious and thoughtful host. From the moment we made our first enquiry, Andrew went above and beyond to ensure our vacation was everything we hoped for - from helping us navigate Covid rules, arranging a rental car, having us picked up at the airport, giving us a myriad of recommendations for our time on the island and making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. He even helped us arrange Covid tests for our departure. Nothing was too much trouble. A major highlight was chartering Andrewâs boat to do a tour of the island. What a fantastic day out!
All in all, a wonderful vacation. If you are considering La Marea, look no further. You will not be disappointed.
We stayed for a week with our family of two young children. Andrew was an excellent host - super responsive and helpful with recommendations (Chef Albert was amazing!) and willing to help out with everything we needed. The pool and surrounding covered lounge area + gazebo were perfect for a family holiday.
