Nice property but poorly managed!
We booked the hotel through Expedia in Oct 2018 and, as usual, received an email confirming our reservation and letting us know that there was no need to call and reconfirm. I received a text from the hotel shortly afterwards saying, âConfirming 2019 Beachouse Inn & Suites resv 2/26-3/02 King Studio. Thank you Beachouse, Silver Sands Point LLCâ. I thought that was a nice touch but didnât respond as we had already received confirmation from Expedia, and I have never had to confirm directly with a property when using Expedia. And there was no âcall to actionâ in the text, no request to reply and confirm the dates. We assumed it was merely a note to let us know the room was reserved.
We arrived on Feb 26th and were told that she wasnât sure if we were coming! I said that Expedia had confirmed our reservation. She said she sent a note through Expedia (saying our credit card had been declined) which I never received. My credit card company wasnât able to confirm the decline as it was too long ago, but it was the same credit card we used to pay the bill when we arrived! She also mentioned the text and we told her there was no request to answer and confirm as Expedia had already done that. I contacted Expedia after we returned home and they said that their confirmation is all that is required. There were no further attempts to contact us, no follow up emails or texts asking us to please reply to confirm our reservation, so we assumed all was well.
