It needs investment in the building . Our room needed some embellishment with cushions on the sofa which underneath the bed runner used to cover it , it was extremely worn with the stuffing showing!! The curtains need to be replaced as they are worn and in some places don’t meet in the middle. The four poster had no drapes nor cushions. Very easy to brighten the room up . We loved the extra space though with the dressing room . The hotel seems to be aiming at golf and conferences as the limited dinner menu seems to expect people only to stay for a few nights . However the food was very good . We would go back as the staff were friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was welcoming with fresh flower displays downstairs . Some beautiful period features around the hotel to enjoy . Just needs a bit more TLC to bring it alive .

Loved the room, spa and the restaurant. Staff were very friendly too. Just a few remarks as follows: You should have staff patrolling the area as we unfortunately could not get on the heated beds as people had left their belongings on them and disappeared for hours!! Maybe a sign would work too advising that they are for all guests. Also, the spa could maybe have a hook system where people could leave their towels rather than leaving them on the chairs when they go off for treatments, etc.

Great hotel and stay, some TLC needed

Great hotel. We stayed in the Hamlet apartment as a young family, which worked great for the flexibility and allowed us to make the most of the hotel amenities. The apartment itself needed some TLC and maybe an upgrade e.g. shower fitting nearly coming off the wall, some door handles almost coming off and some very worn carpet. Breakfast and service was great, restaurant prices quite steep, and the spa was great with children swimming hours. Overall, we had a great time and allowed us a short journey into Stratford-upon-Avon to explore

The hotel building is impressive but sadly the maintenance and decor seem a little tired. The beds in our room were really uncomfortable and the radiator blasted out heat almost all night long. The spa is nice and we had some lovely treatments but having the pool open to children after 4pm on a Friday and a Saturday morning somewhat shattered the calm, zen atmosphere we were looking for.

The Welcombe, Stratford-upon-Avon. NEVER AGAIN !!!

Absolutely awful. What a dreadfully grim hotel. No charm whatsoever. Presented in the restaurant in the evening with the simplistic bar menu, as a staying & paying guest, whilst all others around me with provided with an actual proper ‘Dinner Menu’, because they had apparently booked ‘before’. And check out the Gluten Free menu in the images below. Just disgraceful! Utterly shambolic customer service & attention from a completely uncaring Hotel Group.

Our go to hotel when we stay in Stratford. A historic hotel that oozes authenticity. Yes, it could do with a makeover in certain areas of the main building but these do not detract from the overall pleasantness of the stay. Excellent breakfast offering. If you plan to use the spa facilities then a small padlock is recommended to secure your belongings. Totally recommend this hotel for anyone staying in the Stratford area.

Our Christmas stay at the Welcombe Hotel was a nice break. The mansion is stunning, set in 157 acres of beautiful grounds, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot deer roaming around. The spa was good to have—the indoor pool, Swedish sauna, and outdoor vitality pool made for a nice way to unwind, and the thermal rooms were a nice touch. A very big shoutout to Sara and Muhammed, who were incredibly helpful and always welcoming. Their service really stood out. Breakfast was OK-ish—not bad, but nothing special. Christmas lunch, on the other hand, was disappointing—it felt like a missed opportunity given how nice everything else was. The bar had a good atmosphere, and I liked the local wine, but the overall drinks selection could have been better. Overall, despite the food not being great, the Welcombe Hotel was a lovely Christmas getaway—a beautiful setting, good service, and a peaceful place to relax.
