The Neighborhood:
Our mountain escape is perfectly situated in Sugarloaf, one of Big Bear’s most peaceful and woodsy residential neighborhoods—ideal for those looking to unwind in nature without sacrificing convenience. This cozy cabin sits on a spacious corner lot with just one neighbor, creating an intimate and serene retreat while still being close to the best of Big Bear.
Steps from Nature
One of the home’s biggest perks? You’re just a short walk to the San Bernardino National Forest, where endless trails await. Whether you're craving a morning hike, a sunset stroll, or a spontaneous snowshoe trek in the winter, you’ll find nature quite literally at your doorstep. Guests love taking the Panorama Trail for sweeping views of the valley, lake, and ski slopes.
Nearby Lake & Scenic Paths
Looking for lakeside serenity? You’re about a 6-minute drive to Big Bear Lake. Bring your bike or take a jog along the Alpine Pedal Path, a scenic and family-friendly trail that runs along the lake’s north shore and offers gorgeous mountain views.
Winter Fun & Ski Access
If you're visiting during the snow season, you’re in luck—Snow Summit and Bear Mountain ski resorts are both just 15 minutes away by car. Whether you ski, snowboard, or simply want to enjoy some après-ski cocoa, you'll be close to the slopes without being stuck in the crowds.
Family-Friendly Attractions
Big Bear Alpine Zoo – Just 10-15 minutes away, this rehabilitation zoo is a must-visit, especially for families or animal lovers.
Big Bear Discovery Center – 15 minutes away, offering guided nature walks, exhibits, and ranger programs.
Local Dining & Essentials
While Sugarloaf itself is wonderfully quiet, you’re just a quick drive from Big Bear’s lively dining and shopping areas:
Lumberjack Café – A rustic go-to for hearty mountain breakfasts.
Hacienda Grill – A local favorite for casual Mexican food and margaritas.
Santana & Maverick’s Pizza – Great for a relaxed family night in.
Stater Bros. and Vons – Both just 10–15 minutes away for all your grocery needs.
Why Guests Love This Area
This neighborhood gives you the best of both worlds: peaceful forest surroundings that make you feel miles away from it all—yet you’re just 10–15 minutes from everything Big Bear has to offer. Whether you're visiting for a snowy winter getaway or a summer lake adventure, this location sets you up for easy access to everything without the noise or congestion.
Getting Around:
Big Bear is a mountain town best explored by car, and we highly recommend that guests bring or rent a vehicle during their stay for the most flexibility and ease.
🚘 Driving is Best
The cabin is located in the quiet, residential Sugarloaf neighborhood, which is beautifully serene—but also means that most attractions, restaurants, and stores are not within walking distance. Having a car allows you to easily reach Big Bear Lake, ski resorts, and local dining within 10 to 15 minutes.
✈️ Nearest Airport
The closest major airport is Ontario International Airport (ONT), located approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes away (depending on traffic and road conditions). Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is about a 2.5–3 hour drive.
🚕 Ubers & Rideshares
Uber and Lyft are limited in Big Bear and should not be relied upon for regular transportation. Availability can be especially scarce during off-peak seasons or at night. If you don’t have a car, plan ahead with scheduled rides or local cab services.
🚌 Public Transportation
Big Bear does offer a local bus system called Mountain Transit, but service can be infrequent and is best used for basic in-town routes. It’s not ideal for getting to trailheads or more remote spots.
🅿️ Parking
The property includes private driveway parking for up to 3 cars, and there is no parking fee. Please note that street parking is not allowed, especially during snow season due to plowing regulations.
Interaction with Guests:
The home is professionally managed by Navigate Stays. Your comfort and satisfaction are our top priorities, so please feel free to reach out to us at any time during your stay. Whether you have questions, need assistance, or just want local recommendations, we're here for you 24/7. You can message or call us anytime, and we'll respond promptly to ensure you have a smooth and enjoyable experience.
