Wonderful stay. Great location and views. Villa was very clean and well kept. Lake Iseo is much more calm and quiet than the other lakes in the area. It was the perfect staging area to explore the rest of the area.
Perfect Italian setting, on the water, overlooking Monte Isola and the town of Peschiera Maraglio. Lake Iseo is quiet and picturesque. Great location with easy access to Milano, Verona, Bergamo, and Lago di Garda for a much busier lake. The house is comfortable and well equipped. Could use some water equipment like rafts, or maybe a small kayak. Being right in the water was perfect on such a hot week. Jumped in every day after activities.
Villa Cecilia is absolutely lovely, even nicer than the photos. Our family (three couples and an infant) thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The villa is spacious and well appointed, we cooked and ate inside and outside and marveled at the views from so many windows and balconies.
Marco was a friendly and patient host, we had several requests prior to our arrival (he helped us organize a celebration luncheon on Monte Isola), he provided prompt and helpful responses and met us on arrival to show us the villa in detail. The area offers much to explore, and Marco's new guidebook helped us plan our activities (kayaking, a winery visit, ferry rides). We enjoyed walking through the village and hearing Italian, very little English wherever we went.
If you are visiting in summer, we strongly suggest a day and night out in Verona, and getting tickets for the Opera at the Arena di Verona if you can, it's an unforgettable experience, though a late night!
This was our second visit to Lago d'Iseo, we hope there will be an opportunity to return, and we would love to return to Villa Cecilia -
Casa Cecilia is an absolutely magical house in a setting that takes your breath away! The vintage home is meticulously restored to its original impressive detail-- but as comfortable as any modern home. From nearly every window and balcony (and there are many) you can see the soaring mountains, and the crystal blue lake, and Monte Isola directly across the water. We used the island village of Pescheria, reachable by a short ferry ride, for dinners out during our two week stay. Sulzano does not have the dining selections that the island does. It was fun to take the boat across. Parking was plentiful and the garden/yard was spacious and delightful. Watching the light change on the island and the water and mountains was a full time preoccupation. Traffic noise from the street became insignificant in view of the beauty of the property. We were a party of seven, with one three year old and everyone -- absolutely everyone-- adored the house.
