About the home
"Kahakai" is a lovely family home, a games room set up in the garage and stunning views over Sunderland Bay. Some of the many features of this lovely home are detailed below:
Indoor Areas
Upstairs, the open plan living / dining and kitchen area has wall-mounted reverse cycle air-conditioning and tv with dvd player and foxtel. This leads on to the 1st floor deck with stunning water views.There are 3 bedrooms on this level and the main bathroom. There is an external stair case between the floors - downstairs is the master bedroom plus another bathroom and a second living room with tv and dvd player and a small kitchenette with microwave, sink and fridge.
Outdoor Areas
The upstairs Deck (with gas BBQ) provides a lovely sheltered place for outdoor meals with a sensational view of the water. The games room (converted garage) contains a fold up table tennis table and dart board. The long driveway provides space for up to 3 vehicles to park (cars and/or a boat).
Kitchen
The fully appointed upstairs kitchen is equipped with standard cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, microwave, Aldi pod coffee machine, toaster, kettle, etc. plus a double sink, pantry, large fridge, electric oven and cook top.
Heating/Cooling Systems
The upstairs Living room home has a wall mounted reverse cycle air conditioner and the downstairs Living room has a wall mounted heater. There are also mobile fans and electric heaters in all the bedrooms.
Bedroom Configuration
This home has 5 beds, accommodating up to 8 guests:

Linen
It is common in the region for some linen to be provided for bookings, and some linen to be available as an optional extra. By default, a booking at this home does not include optional linen (top & bottom sheets, bath towels and pillowcases). What is included are doonas (quilts) with covers, pillows without covers, tea towels, hand towels and bathmats. If you would like the optional linen included in your booking, please let us know, including which beds you would like it provided for. The additional cost would be a one-off charge of $30 per bed (some sites add a service fee to these costs) - and we prefer 7 days' notice prior to your arrival to get that arranged.
Peak Periods
Please note that during the peak summer period and other peak times, check in times are set as 3pm (unless by prior arrangement). Please also note that if you avail of the optional linen hire over these times, it may involve linen being left out but beds not being made up.
Functions, Celebrations and Schoolies
Please note that the home is not suitable for celebrations, parties or large events. The home also does not take bookings over Schoolies. All bookings are subject to approval, pending Guest verification process - Local council restrictions are in place for this property and compliance is mandatory.
When we checked into the property, there was no driveway, it is a bog and our shoes were all muddy. Even some road base could have fixed this.
We spent two hours cleaning the plates, glasses and cutlery drawer.
There were blow heaters in each room and 3 out of the 4 did not work. We tested them in various power points. There were two light globes not working.
We were asked to go and buy our own heaters and light globes and we would be reimbursed. The blinds are broken in the bedrooms with large gaps and we were woken early. The pillows and towels need replacing and the beds sanitised.
The BBQ mate is rusty and the plates are chipped. The bidet is filthy as is the toilet brush. The lounge room mat is dirty. The lounge chair has peeling leather. I don't feel that the advert showed the true quality of the property.
The owners need to complete a spring clean and update throughout.
The Property Manager was great to deal with and I hope the owner takes feedback onboard.
The property is absolutely clean and has that beach vibe. It is exactly the same as shown in the pictures and within walking distance of the beach. Just a short drive to the main street for food and drinks. Thanks for a lovely house.
Pictures were a perfect depiction, no surprises! Great view, great amenities (kids loved the Foxtel). House was clean, TiVo and had all the bits and bobs you needed. The only suggestion would be the addition of safer heaters in the bedrooms; as the house is tiled it gets quite cold and the split system struggles to to get down to the bedrooms. The heaters supplied are not safe to run with kids around. Overall a fantastic property that we would recommend to all! Thank you!
