Urban Escape Glebe House
What We Love
Elegantly industrial, this spacious home welcomes you to relax in your own private oasis. Sunny courtyard views spill light across the exposed wood, polished concrete, and exposed beams that fill this home with urban charm. A hidden gem, this 3-bedroom 2-bathroom home is the perfect city escape.
Edgy black walls and atmospheric polished concrete floors lead to the large open-plan living and dining area, where the industrial finish of this 2-storey home is softened by the natural views of your private sunny courtyard garden. Boasting two seating areas centred around a stunning frangipani tree, this is the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee or a few sundowners on a warm afternoon after a long day of exploring!
The main living space is equally inviting, with a casual breakfast bar separating the full kitchen from the comfy couch - a great place to settle in and enjoy your favourite book or movie. Two bedrooms are upstairs, with the final bedroom completing the ground floor. All rooms have plenty of storage. The master bedroom boasts concertina doors that open onto a generous, semi-enclosed balcony overlooking your courtyard. There is also a separate study available for those who are travelling for work and play.
If you venture out of your city escape, you will find some of Sydney's finest attractions right at your fingertips. A plethora of divine restaurants can be explored on Glebe Point Road. Foodies will delight at the fresh seafood available at the Sydney Fish Markets, and the beautiful Blackwattle Bay is an ideal picnic spot just moments away.

The neighbourhood
- If there is one place you must visit its Tramsheds - Originally a tramway depot built in 1904, this has become a local hotspot for fantastic restaurants, local retailers and a weekly growers market every Sunday. Be sure to check their website for other events happening around the time of your stay! - A gorgeous walk is the foreshore walk around to Jubilee park - perfect for an afternoon picnic. - As the light draws in, head to the Different Drummer, a hole-in-the-wall style bar, dimly lit, down to earth and open until 2 am. For a more upscale dining experience check out No.92 wine, serving great wine in a gorgeous 19th-century 'home-style' restaurant. - Powerhouse museum and Australian Maritime Museum are about a 20-minute walk, or you can catch the light rail.
There are great public transport links around this property, and youâre welcome to bring your own car. If you don't have a car we recommend a car-sharing app such as Uber.
Home Truths
- Small cars fit in the car space. No SUV's or large cars. It's a tighter than usual squeeze and comfortably fits a small car. - One of the bedrooms is off the entrance hallway in the front room of the property. There is a door to block off the hallway for privacy, however, the bedroom is still visible from when you enter the front door. - We have added a privacy blind to the front room, however, there is a minor gap that we're working on closing for full privacy. - Soundproofing on windows and doors. - There are fish in the backyard that we will feed monthly. - The front steps are quite steep, and the top step is especially high, which may be difficult for guests with limited mobility or anyone carrying luggage.

This house was lovely and had all the amenities we needed. There is aircon in the living area and bedrooms which was fantastic as it was hot weather during our stay. We did have difficulty working out how to use the kitchen water filter, no matter the tap water was fine. Even with instructions we had difficulty unlocking the front door but eventually worked it out. We loved Glebe and the proximity to the main sights of Sydney.
The property was close to restaurants and shops in a nice neighborhood. I would stay there again. My one wish would be a little more privacy for the front room. It was a little exposed in the entryway.
I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this property. The description provided on VRBO was highly inaccurate, and the actual space turned out to be significantly smaller than depicted. Despite being advertised as a luxurious accommodation, it fell far short of that expectation.
Traveling with my family, we encountered a major issue with the lack of storage space for luggage and footwear. The main floor, right next to the entrance, had a room with constant traffic noise, making it less than ideal. Additionally, the two rooms upstairs were not much better. One of them was so small that it was barely usable, creating discomfort for our stay.
Cleanliness was a significant concern as well. We discovered cockroaches in various areas of the house, including the bathroom and, shockingly, underneath the sheets in the main bedroom. This not only compromised our sense of well-being but also raised serious questions about the overall hygiene of the property.
Moreover, the appliances were outdated, and to make matters worse, the dryer was broken. Attempts to contact the property manager yielded little to no response, leaving us feeling neglected and frustrated throughout our stay.
In summary, this VRBO property failed to deliver on its promise of a luxurious experience, and the numerous issues we encountered significantly marred our overall stay. I strongly advise potential renters to exercise caution and thoroughly research the property's reviews before considering a booking.
