This place is right on the water, staff are excellent and very attentive. We had an issue with a skunk getting stuck in the roof and they got us a new room right away. They seemed pretty shocked so it definitely doesn’t happen often. Everything was so close to the hotel but far enough away to avoid the bustling crowds when you want it. Staff are constantly cleaning this place like all day long. They take great pride in it. We really enjoyed the outdoor showers, the many beach chairs and tables shade if you want. Pleasant and talkative staff when you want it. Everyone seems happy.
The bed was soo comfortable. We had AC in room but didn’t always use it. Loved the grounds they are beyond perfect. We saw iguanas and squirrels monkeys and coatis and lots of geckos. The resident cats and neighbors dog made me feel right at home.

This is a true beach front property. On a less crowed part of Tamarindo Beach. They pay attention to every detail.

The location on Tamarindo beach and the quieter area of the beach is fantastic . The garden and pool landscaping are beautiful with the animals all around. Service is great, helpful and extremely fast.
The hotel amenities are good but also a bit basic. It would be great if there where some more free services available like kayaks or paddle boards. Instead of having those as an additional rental fee. I also think there should be some seating areas around the pool or beach that are covered because in rainy days the beach chairs get wet and guests basically have no option apart from sitting in their rooms. The sustainability practices are of course very important but can also make the hotel stay a bit uncomfortable on a very humid weather, like turning the off of the air conditioning by cleaning staff etc. The bed linen always felt extremely humid. Perhaps there is a way to avoid this with some better ventilated rooms or by providing nets on the room doors would be very recommended. In a high mosquito season , we were not able to have our doors open.

We provide a dehumidifier in the rooms incase our guests complain of the humidity, we apologize that we did not know about your problem. Rainy season starts in May, it is when the mosquitos start to appear. We have mosquito nets for the beds that we can install for our guests whenever it is needed. All of our rooms have window screens providing the option to open up the rooms to fresh air. You are very correct we are a sustainable hotel and our main goal is to save energy, but our priority is to make our guests feel comfortable in our hotel.

You will love this place, great location (walking distance to town), beautiful grounds and rooms. Amazing staff, yummy food, incredible wildlife. Bring bug spray!

Beautiful beach hotel with incredible staff
We reserved Capitan Suizo's beach bungalow for the celebration of our wedding, and could not be happier with our stay. The beach is beautiful and offers stunning sunsets every day. The staff was incredibly attentive, kind, and generous, and went far above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The property is well maintained and lush, with a large, clean swimming pool and comfortable beach chairs in the shade (or sun) on a pristine, swimmable beach just a 10 minute walk from downtown Tamarindo. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Tamarindo area.
