The hotel was located close to restaurants, cafes, and the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. I liked the room, very comfy bed and cold AC. The empanadas, smoothies, and coffee were great!!

Could use a renovation. All seems a bit worn. Helpful staff. Noone there to check out. Sketchy owner lurking outside the hotel at night made me uncomfortable. Pool was OK. Beach towels available.

Really nice boutique hotel in a great area in Tamarindo. Housekeeping services available daily, friendly and helpful staff, help with local excursions and recommendations. Beautiful outdoor pool and common area!

Another great stay it In The Shade, even at the peak of rainy season :) I was traveling solo and this place is nice and quiet but not far from the main road where all the shops and restaurants are. They also have great food and coffee and smoothies in the morning. Check-in is easy and the staff is so very kind and accommodating. My favorite place to stay in Tamarindo and I have tried many places. Will be back again!

In the Shade Hotel is very clean with an efficient working air conditioning, nice water pressure in the shower and enough space in the room. Front desk person was friendly and informative. On either side of the hotel you have a choice of restaurants to eat. And you have a bank, stores and restaurants within walking distance to the hotel.

All of the staff especially Maggie made my stay very comfortable. As a young traveler Maggie gave advice, safety tips, and fun activities. Whenever there was a transportation concern Maggie was right on top of it with solutions. The free coffee in the morning was a cherry on top. And the safety in a city was astonishing. I will for sure be staying here again and for anyone thinking of staying in Tamarindo pick this hotel!

In The Shade is amazing!! I have been to Costa Rica 8 times now and have tried all different places, but this is at the top. The staff is all so friendly and they serve a great cup of coffee in the morning. What really makes this a good place to stay in Tamarindo is that it's very close to the main roads you will want to spend your time at, but the Hotel is very private. The Hotel is cozy, clean and quiet - what more could you ask for? Overall a 10/10 experience, hopefully I will be back!
