Lovely 7 bedroom home with hot tub and large garden near Oban
Refurbished Dec 2024. A stunning 7 bedroom home, immaculately kept and fully equipped set in Taynuilt near Oban. The large kitchen and dining area is a lovely space to entertain. With numerous bedrooms and bathrooms this property is ideal for a large family getaway. The spacious garden with hot tub offers privacy and luxury alongside spectacular views of Ben Cruachan. Additionally, this property has ample private parking. Oban, gateway to the Isles, is a short 15 minute drive making this an ideal base for exploring the West coast of Argyll.
Lovely house let down by location next to rude neighbour
Sadly, I have to give this Villa a low scoreâŠ.not for the property itâs self; the house was ideal for our special family occasion and Gillian was a good host. The only thing that marred it and the reason we wonât be back was one rude neighbour. The house is close to two other houses. The garden is uneven and the flattest part is next to another neighbours garden which is divided by a fence. On our first day there, my 80 year old Mum and twin 12 year old nieces were playing badminton. One neighbour thought it was ok to be rude to them and tell them they were ruining his Sunday afternoon and to move away from his garden. This was at midday!!Later in the evening, the 14 of us were playing a quiz in the dining room, the only room that could accommodate the size of our full party comfortably. I received a text from the owner to say the noise alarm had been triggered and that she had received a complaint from the neighbour, at 9pm. Our party was a family party made up of children and adults ranging from 10-90 years old who were celebrating my Mums 80th. If your property caters for groups up to 16, you surely must expect some noise?? In our case, laughter. Sadly, this issue cast a cloud over our weekend If you are considering a similar stay for a large party, be wary of Mr Angry next door.
We had a large family group with ages from 7-79. This home was perfect. It was well equipped and immaculate. It was a very convenient location for the sights we wanted to see. Would definitely recommend it.
Everything was as described - this is a beautiful house in a lovely setting. The town is perfect and the people we met were all friendly and kind. Thank you for a terrific stay.
Really nice house, plenty of rooms, very peaceful, fantastic location. We stayed as a family get together 14 in total excellent space, needs a bit of tlc here and there and maybe turn the conservatory into a sitting room to allow everyone to relax together.
Nice big house for a family get together. Big kitchen and dining space and hottub is an added bonus. Lots of nice decor and room dressings. Little tired in places i.e. black mould on bathroom roof.
My wife and I stayed in this property with some friends for New Years celebrations. Great place with stunning views. Some elements of the house were tired or needed some tlc but nothing to complain about.
This was a perfect home base for our large family gathering (10 ppl ranging in age from 3-70). Close to Oban but far enough removed that itâs away from city traffic and is quiet and relaxing. Large, clean space, very comfortable for our large group. Would stay again!
Myself and 11 friends had a great stay at Taynuilt. The house was perfect for the big group, the outdoor space, hot tub and number of bedrooms and bathrooms in particular. The kitchen was great for cooking and well equipped. The host was very helpful and communicative. Would definitely recommend and stay again!
Lovely property and fantastic size wise. Would agree with other reviews that itâs is a bit tired in places but suited our needs perfectly. Hot tub was brilliant!
Stayed here for a few days with some friends and had a lovely time, ideal location with short drive/train into Oban. Hot tub was a definite highlight, the house was in amazing condition and very comfortable. Thanks for having us! :)
The property suited our needs, there were a couple of snagging issues on arrival which were very quickly dealt with after a phone call to the property owner who was very helpful
We enjoyed our stay very much and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the house
Excellent base for watersports, hillwalking and cycling
The house provided an ideally located base for all our outdoor adventures in Loch Etive, Loch Awe, Glen Coe and the network of quieter roads which can be accessed from Taynuilt. There are some maintenance issues with the property which is why the overall rating is 3 stars. I have made the property owner aware of these issues. For those with younger children also be aware that there is no physical barrier between the property and the main A85. Nor is there a barrier between the garden and the adjacent building site for the Taynuilt Inn.
This is an excellent house in a beautiful area. We had 15 guests ranging from 4 to 79 - the accommodation was perfect for all of our needsâŠit was warm, clean and comfortable. The hot tub was a particular highlight. Gillian was approachable and helpful if needed. We would not hesitate to recommend this property and the area.
Chose property for location. Easy access to Oban by train. Property needs a bit of upgrading but would still book again. Great hot tub problem when first arrived but rectified very quickly.
The size of the property was ideal for all of us. The property was tidy and clean and although it was a birthday it was intended to be a calm weekend with hikes, games and some drinks. The hot tub is brilliant, very large and the location was close enoigh to Oban that it took 15mins to drjve in. Would stay again.
My family and I (5 adults 2 children and a dog) are just back from staying in this property. The property is a large villa and has many bedrooms and bathrooms situated over 3 floors that will accommodate all types of visitors. All the rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean on arrival and had fresh towels and linen in all. The ground floor has a large double bedroom with adjacent bathroom and shower, the first floor has 2 large master bedrooms with en suite and there is another 2 bedrooms one with 2 singles and another with a double. On the top floor there is a double bedroom down one side and another bedroom with 2 doubles down the other. In between these is another bathroom with a shower. All the rooms were spacious and had plenty of wardrobe space. The house obviously used to be multiple occupancy so there are large fire doors separting the different levels and the bedrooms on the same floor. These can be noisy at night when opening and closing if someoneâs in bed while others are moving about the house but they are not a drawback by any means. Downstairs there is a cloakroom with a small tv room adjacent with lovely views of the meadow. Next door to this there is a large kitchen area with almost every utensil you could need for a short break as well as a large dining area. During our stay we had a plumbing issue which the host dealt with quickly and professionally and she was a pleasure to communicate with. Iâd recommend this villa to any family looking for a staycation
The property was ideal for a large family geting together. The rooms were spacious and comfortable.
My only concern was problems with getting hot water in one shower and the almost lack of water in a basin in a bedroom.
More cutlery and larger cooking pots would have been helpful for such a large group.
But none of that spoiled our stsy.
Gillian was very helpful whenever I contacted her.
We had a lovely stay at Taynuilt. Our family ranged from 4y to 64 years and we all loved our time here. Plenty of rooms to spread out, comfy, cosy beds, welcome pack, well equipped kitchen, good outdoor space for kids and dogs to run about. Always plenty of hot water for showers and baths. A great time was had by all. Thank you x
The property was big and very clean, it was well equipped and the hot tub is a plus. Overall our stay for the weekend was really good and the location of the house is amazing.
Wonderful house and location. Had a great stay with family.
Couple of downsides, hot tub was nice however this time of year could perhaps benefit from some sort of shelter, such as gazebo, not so enjoyable in the pouring rain, and nowhere dry to keep towels, so had to leave all inside. One bedroom heater didnât work, underfloor heating not noticeable despite turning this up. But overall great stay. đ
