Coucou Cottage lovely stylish house with private garden and a pool
Welcome to Coucou Cottage, a traditional French house over 300 years old. It has been renovated from top to bottom. We have tried to preserve the charm of this lovely cottage whilst ensuring you have all modern comforts. The cottage is located on the edge of the lovely medieval village of Thedirac. It has a private garden with countryside views including a new swimming pool. There is spacious open plan living downstairs. A lounge with traditional fireplace opens on to a dining area and fully fitted kitchen. French doors open onto a private terrace with outdoor seating and dining area. You will also find a double bedroom downstairs and a family bathroom with a separate shower and bath plus a cloakroom with toilet. Upstairs there are two large double bedrooms with their own en suite shower and toilet. The lounge has a large smart television and we have wifi and internet throughout the house and on the terrace outside. The kitchen has a Smegg range cooker, there is also a microwave, coffee maker, fridge freezer and dishwasher. In the garden you will find a second terrace overlooking the swimming pool with six comfortable loungers. Coucou is on a hill so you have lovely views over the French countryside. A lovely spot to watch the sun go down and admire the swallos as they dive in and out of the pool. At the bottom of the garden near to the pool there is a covered area housing the gas BBQ. NOTE : THE THIRD WEEKEND IN AUGUST WE HAVE OUR VILLAGE FETE AND THE MUSIC STAGE IS SET UP IN THE STREET NOT FAR FROM COUCOU. IT IS VERY NOISY FOR THREE NIGHTS SO WE HAVE MADE A REDUCTION OF 100 EUROS PER NIGHT. IT IS A GREAT TIME TO COME IF YOU LIKE TO PARTY.
Really lovely owners - very helpful. Nice little village with a boulangerie (and pizza van once a week which we used enthusiastically!). The house was perfect for our requirements (husband/ wife and adult sons and their girlfriends). It had everything we needed. The pool was lovely - particularly when 40 degs in week 1. And lots of trips out to various villages in the Lot and Dordogne. Highly recommend.
We have been staying in villas in France for 18 years and have never found a property as wonderful as this before!
The house itself is perfect! Clean, beautifully decorated, with everything you could possibly need. The kitchen is well stocked with a full range of utensils and lovely appliances.
The bedrooms are beautiful and all have fans with a fabulous bathroom each. There is also plenty of storage for your things.
The outside space is as beautiful and well thought out as the rest of the property. The beautiful pool and gardens with parasols for shade and sun loungers for relaxing are perfect for enjoying the views. There are plenty of spaces for family dining and fun but also little areas for privacy and some time to yourself.
The hosts are fantastically friendly and attentive but fully respectful of your privacy. They are dedicated to keeping the property clean and maintained for your stay and also on hand for advice and recommendations to ensure your holiday is the best it can be! Really lovely people!
Finally, the stunning location in this pretty town. The locals are so friendly and welcoming and there is so much to do and see. A lovely private and quiet place but close to any activity you would like: kayaking the Dordogne(an amazing day out), eating out in Cahors , swimming and water sports at the Green Lake, exploring the local towns. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are determined to return and stay with Rachel and Fred again soon!
