I am writing to explain the circumstances that led to our departure from our booking with you at Torregentile, Umbria, Italy, April 15-30th 2025.
I selected the booking by being most impressed with the listing describing the excellent accommodation to be had at Torregentile. The reviews were glowing. The trip was to celebrate forty years of marriage. I booked the trip in full confidence that we would be looking forward to an unforgettable holiday. We did have an unforgettable holiday, but things did not unfold as expected.
In the Expedia ad, two weeks in the hills below Todi ,Umbria at a one thousand year old borgo, a castle, with a swimming pool, was perfect for our needs--it seemed. A taxi into the hilltop town of Todi would be required each evening to return to Torregentile. In the daytime, we could hike towards Todi, or catch a bus 40 minutes hiking downhill from the borgo. I noted the taxi was approximately 14 Euros. One of the photos in the ad showed a lovely fireplace with roaring flames. This would be ideal if the nights were cool. The trip was booked and fully paid for.
The reality of what happened to us at Torregentile makes us eligible for a refund, please.
After one night at the castle, we decided we had to leave as our holiday would be impossible to unfold as planned. This is what happened:
The 14 Euros taxi drive turned into a 45 Euro one, as the only taxi driver in Todi dropped us from the Emi supermarket on the outskirts of Todi to Torregentil
