Nestled in Tolaga Bay on New Zealand's beautiful East Coast is this three-bedroom cottage with an optional separate cabin.

Life here is best enjoyed with slow mornings, hot coffee, shared meals, cards around the table, stories by the fire and cosy nights in.

🧾 The Good Stuff

If you're heading to the Coast for mahi, tangi, a family visit, or just need a breather, this coasty bach is a warm, comfortable place to land and recharge.

Tucked away in a quiet part of Tolaga Bay, it's clean, relaxed and easy to settle into. This is a genuine 1970s bach, thoughtfully prepared with everything you need for an easy stay. It's comfortable and well cared for.

🛏️ Sleeping

The main house sleeps up to 6 guests.

A separate cabin sleeps up to 3 additional guests and is included for bookings of 7 or more guests. Smaller groups are welcome to add the cabin for an additional $50 cleaning fee.

While the property sleeps up to 9 guests, the house itself is compact, making it best suited to guests who enjoy cosy, close-quarter living.

🏠 The Space

Whether you're here for work, visiting whānau, attending a tangi or simply taking a break, this is a comfortable place to land.

It stays cool in summer, warm in winter, and has everything you need to settle in and switch off. Perfect for workers, whānau stays, quiet weekends away, or anyone needing a slower pace for a few days.

🍳 Kitchen & Dining

Whether you're cooking a full meal or just heating up takeaways, you'll find everything you need.

The kitchen includes a fridge/freezer, gas hob, electric oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, air fryer, rice cooker, slow cooker, electric frypan, Nutribullet, plus the usual pots, pans, trays, platters and utensils.

The dining table seats four and is perfect for meals, cards or a late-night yarn.

🛁 Bathroom & Laundry

The shower shares the laundry (or maybe the laundry shares the shower, depending how you look at it).

One thing guests regularly comment on is the water pressure. It's hot, reliable and perfect for washing the day away.

You'll also find shampoo, conditioner and body wash, along with a washing machine, dryer and outdoor clothesline.

🏡 The Cabin

Bright, insulated and double glazed, the cabin provides extra sleeping space and a little more privacy.

🏡 Warm & Comfortable

The lounge is heated by a heat pump, while the bedrooms have automatic panel heaters during the cooler months. Electric blankets are provided in winter, with extra blankets and pillows available if you'd like them.

🌿 Good to Know

This is an older bach with plenty of character, so you may notice the odd creak as it continues to be lovingly updated over time.

The water pressure pump sits outside near Bedroom Three and may switch on occasionally.

Because you're staying in rural Tolaga Bay, you may hear roosters, cows or horses from time to time.

Power cuts are uncommon but can happen on the Coast. Candles are provided just in case.

🏡 Security Cameras

Exterior security cameras are installed for the safety of our guests and the security of the property. They monitor the driveway and entrances only.

There are no cameras inside the house or cabin, or in any private guest areas.

🐴 About Us

We're a busy equestrian family and spend many weekends away competing between November and Easter.

Because of this, some weekends require a two-night minimum stay.

If you're looking for a one-night stay, send us a message. If we can make it work, we'll always do our best.

• Cabin access for groups of 6 or fewer – $50 cleaning fee
• Mid-stay linen and towel refresh – $50
• Mid-stay full house refresh – $100
• Firewood delivery – $20 per night

📍 Tolaga Bay

Tolaga Bay is a small East Coast community where life moves a little slower.

You'll find a gas station, truck stop, food truck, dairies, lotto, a pub, bottle store and fish and chip shops. Most guests choose to stock up on groceries in Gisborne before arriving.

What Tolaga Bay lacks in shopping, it makes up for with space, fresh sea air and the chance to slow down for a while.
