El Oasis — a stylish Moorish mountain retreat in Cortijo Cabrera

El Oasis is a beautifully restored two-bedroom home in the heart of Cortijo Cabrera, a unique Moorish-style mountain village in the Sierra Cabrera of Andalucía.

Here, the pace is wonderfully slow. Wake to dramatic mountain scenery, enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the terrace, spend the afternoon beside the shared pool and watch the sun disappear behind the mountains in the evening.

Yet this peaceful mountain escape is only around 20 minutes by car from the beaches, restaurants and bars of Mojácar.

Your stay

El Oasis sleeps up to four guests in two comfortable king-size bedrooms, making it particularly well suited to couples, friends or a family looking for a peaceful base in Andalucía.

The bright, airy living room has a comfortable corner sofa, dining area, international TV and air conditioning. Both bedrooms have air conditioning, quality linen and plenty of storage.

The two bedrooms open onto a traditional Andalusian courtyard, adding to the character and sense of space.

The recently refurbished shower rooms and well-equipped kitchen make El Oasis equally comfortable for short breaks and longer stays.

Outside

The west-facing terrace is one of our favourite places at El Oasis.

It is shaded for relaxed daytime dining and enjoying the mountain views, while the evening brings beautiful sunsets and the opportunity to dine outside beneath the stars.

The large shared swimming pool is immediately beside the house and provides the perfect place to cool off after a day exploring the coast or mountains.

Cortijo Cabrera

The setting is what makes El Oasis special.

Cortijo Cabrera is a peaceful mountain community built in distinctive Moorish style, surrounded by dramatic scenery, wildlife and walking and cycling routes.

You may encounter some of the local wildlife during your stay — one recent guest was lucky enough to see ibex in the village.

There is a tapas bar and a well-regarded Moroccan restaurant within the village, while the wider Mojácar and Turre area offers plenty of restaurants, cafés and places to explore.

For a memorable evening, enjoy dinner at Riad Cabrera, a local Moroccan restaurant in the village.

Mountains or beach? You can have both.

Mojácar Pueblo and Mojácar Playa are around 20 minutes away by car, with sandy beaches, beach bars, restaurants and plenty to do.

The surrounding Sierra Cabrera is ideal for walking, cycling, exploring traditional villages and simply enjoying the scenery.

After a day at the beach, come home to the peace and quiet of the mountains.

A note about the location

A car is essential for staying at El Oasis: Cortijo Cabrera is a peaceful mountain village rather than a walk-to-the-beach destination. In return, you get space, tranquillity, beautiful scenery and a genuinely different experience from staying on the coast.

The nearest airports are Almería, Murcia and Alicante, all with car-hire options.
