Budderoo - Unique with 270 degree views!
Special! Stay 2 nights and receive a third night free! Conditions apply. A recent guests comment: All good. We are sitting in front of the fire with a glass of wine and a cheese platter, contemplating who will put the steak on the barbeque for dinner after watching the sunset reflecting on the escarpment. Nestled on the side of a hill amongst five acres of native garden and rainforest, Budderoo will take your breath away upon arrival. The uniquely designed building provides 270-degree views from its elongated all-glass living/dining/kitchen area looking out to the surrounding mountains and escarpments. A northeasterly deck makes the most of the sun and the direct view to Budderoo Escarpment whilst the covered south facing deck with additional lounge and dining is the ultimate shaded escape in summer. Whether you are watching the mist and cloud roll up through the valley to unveil the view or you are marvelling at the muted pink sunset tones reflecting off the escarpments, you cannot help but be captivated by this ever changing but ever present view. The massive, centrally featured, double sided Jetmaster slow combustion fireplace - firewood provided from May to September - will keep you warm in winter whilst air-conditioning, ceiling fans and louvre windows top and bottom of the floor to ceiling glass allowing a delightful breeze through will keep you cool in summer. Our group really enjoyed the property. The location, views and surroundings were great! The property is clean and although some items need a bit of love (fly screens and deck) we really loved our stay and felt comfortable.
Although itâs practical to be close the kangaroo valley village, but the check-in/out process of going there to grab and drop off keys is not very convenient.
The living/dining/kitchen space is a dream, the kitchen has all the equipment you need (minus some scales), the dining table is amazing for big dinner spreads and the living area perfect to lounge, take in the views and afternoon naps.
The stereo system is also great and the outdoor area perfect to wind down. We brought our own festoon lights for the outdoor dining area, good we did as there is no light otherwise.
The bedrooms however need some maintenance. Unfortunately they were a little bit of a let down. The third bedroom is really just a bed on the landing. Which has no door and is the walk-through room to the other bedrooms. The master bedroom had no cupboard space and in the second bedroom the bed is really soft and has seen better days (beware of the creaking).
The outdoor shower and bathtub are a great addition, we thoroughly enjoyed making use of them. Shower with a view!
We had echidnas visit us and even saw two rare black cockatoos, right next to the windows.
We highly recommend going kayaking and swimming at the local spot.
All in all a great adventure and beautiful stay.
Beautiful views, cute house with a lot of character
The property is beautiful and has a lot of character and charm. The owners have included a lot of supplies so you have all the necessities there to relax. Beds are comfortable and nice linen provided. Unfortunately it is really a 2 bedroom with 2 queen beds the other beds are in a connecting living space/landing with no door to seperate so no privacy. The bathroom has a curtain not a door so for 2 families sharing this is not ideal. It is small but is well equipped with beautiful views.
I really do not like when a property advertises 8 person place but the price is actually set for 4 people and you pay an extra $50/person/night. This place is really only for 4 people comfortably anyway so to charge extra like that is a big expense when they are really being squeezed in. Stayz defaulted to 4 people when booking and when I was honest to clarify all 8 people staying, I was very unimpressed that the agent took the extra $400 money out of my account without asking or approving first. When I called them to clarify, I said I wasnât willing to pay the extra as it made it too expensive for us and that because it was less than 24hrs after booking I wanted cancel because the advert wasnât clear. The agent said I could not get a refund at all and I had already paid the extra because they had taken it out of my account. Because I was so disappointed they offered me $200 off( half the extra), it was either this or not getting any money back. Really disappointed with this attitude of both the agent and owner. Price should be for the place and the bedroom number should be a room with a door not a landing. The place was already on the upper end for 8 people for 2 nights in kangaroo valley. Disappointing start to what was a birthday weekend with great friends.
Quiet secluded and relaxing, beautiful views throughout the day through the glass living room and the added bonus of lighting throughout the Australian native garden at night was beautiful.
Having Netflix an added bonus.
The house layout was amazing and allowed you to take in the superb views. We had a couple of really hot days so the air conditioning was a real plus. A wonderful week away.
We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay as a couple for one week in June at Budderoo. The views from the living room windows and deck areas are stunning. We felt immersed in nature and at peace in this little part of paradise as soon as we arrived.
The house with its large living area would be also suitable for families with young children or teenagers, with plenty of space to relax, play around, on (or under), the large day beds inside, or out on the decks or the garden area outside. There is also reading material and a well stocked cupboard of board games for young and old.
There is a well equipped kitchen for easy meal preparation (no microwave) and quality crockery and seating for an intimate meal or large family gathering around the dining table in front of the open fire, which we enjoyed. Plenty of fire wood, gas heating and reverse cycle air conditioning created a warm environment for our midwinter stay.
Comfortable new bedding ensured a good night's sleep and there is a cosy lounge with TV where you can snuggle up with a book, watch TV or enjoy the DVDs provided after a busy day exploring the local area.
The bathroom and toilet are a little rustic, but plenty of hot water, soft towels, toiletries and heat lamps compensated for this. There is also the outdoor bath and shower to experience for those who stay in warmer weather.
We were the first paying guests to stay since the property has been taken on by Kangaroo Valley Getaways. The property managers Adam and Alyssa were very approachable and helpful in following up any queries and issues that arose during our stay. They are planning further improvements to the house to make it an even better experience for those staying in the future.
The road to the property, whilst quite narrow, is suitable for low clearance vehicles. We recommend to drive carefully and watch out for other vehicles and wildlife as we had a very close encounter with a wombat with little road sense one night when driving into KV for dinner.
Surprisingly my Optus service worked well, but my partner's Telstra service was patchy. But who needs technology when escaping from the world...
