Relax in nature high on a mountain-top
We are located in the upper Hunter region just two hours north of Sydney. The charming village of Vacy lies 10 minutes away at the foot of Mt George - upon which Eaglereach Wilderness Resort is situated. Maitland is a short drive south with the Barrington Tops in the other direction. The Retreat Bushland Lodge is a privately rented lodge ('unhosted accommodation') within the Eaglereach Wilderness Resort. It is rented out separately from the main hosted lodge-letting business within the same resort. Our guests are able to use all the community facilities of Eaglereach Wilderness Resort: tennis court, swimming pool, kayaking on lagoon, yabby fishing, exercise area, children's playground, bushwalking, picnic areas and so on.

Spectacular views over the Hunter Valley and, on a clear day, across to the ocean at Newcastle, while still having the privacy and quiet you need to have a real holiday, away from the bustle of the city.
Because of its configuration, our bush house is ideal for families, small groups, and honeymooners seeking seclusion for a romantic getaway.

With wallabies by the verandah, clear mountain air and barely a building in sight, our house in the bush feels miles away from the rest of the world. But its not too far away from the 'big smoke', so it's perfect for weekend getaways and self-catering holidays.

- Prices are based on Twin Share (2A in Queen bed)
- Parties need to be approved by Owner before booking
- All long Weekends are a minimum of 3 nights, all Public Holidays are charged at the Weekend Tariff. Easter, Christmas and New Year is a min of 4 nights.

Couple’s retreat

Our host Susan was fabulous both with communication and creating a memorable experience with her lovely property. The view from the property was spectacular and the home was fitted with everything to create a comfortable stay. Ample firewood was supplied and even food to feed the wallabies and birds. We absolutely loved the pool room and spent many hours down there! Such a great place for couples and families. Highly recommended.

Wonderful place

We stayed at the Retreat for a family wedding , we had 5 adults and still had room for more. The rumpus room with pool table and table tennis table was a huge bonus and we were the envy of others that stayed there. The house was great and we did not need anything else to make our stay better, we were warned to bring everything with us. All the wildlife around was wonderful as well, reminded us that we live in Australia. It was a shame that we could not fully go on the long bush walks on offer due to time restraints, maybe one day .... Would recommend to stay here.

Roos and birds galore!

Bush property with very comfortable home. Lots of hiking and wonderful overlooks close by. Cannot beat roos and kookaburras on the porch waiting for handouts and the spectacular view from the master bedroom.

Loved staying here - highlights were the comforts of the property and the beautiful Roos, wallabies, possums and birds. It rained non stop but we still swam in the pool and lagoon most days. Highly recommend this stay

Sensational stay

What a sensational stay! It was just the two of us wanting to get away to somewhere quiet and beautiful. It was exactly that. We stayed two nights and wish we booked longer. The house was amazing especially the downstairs games room. It had everything we needed and wanted. The wildlife was super friendly. I’d definitely recommend this place and stay again.

A Wonderful Escape

This property is just amazing. You feel like you are a million miles from civilisation, but still have so many great activities at your fingertips. The house is perhaps the most well equipped rental I’ve ever seen- from the kitchen to the pool table, table tennis, canoes, tennis racquets and bikes. Literally the only thing you need to bring are clothes and food. The location is even more spectacular than the photos- the kids had a ball exploring the surroundings. The wildlife greeted us daily- beautiful parrots, kookaburras, possums and kangaroos that surrounded the house. There was always something to see. We will be back!

Peace and tranquility

The property is warm and inviting, spacious living area with a large complete kitchen. Beautiful views of the mountains. Sun drenched and comfortable furnishings, kangaroos and wallabies come and greet you throughout the day. Have a bbq in beautiful natural surroundings amongst mother nature. An absolute must for the busy city folks wanting to get away for a stress free holiday
