Villa Paradiso
Great place, IF this is the type of place you're looking for. It's a small hotel in a lovely, peaceful, "South of the Lido" location a 15 minute bus ride from the vaporetto station (bus is free if you have a vaporetto ticket). The rooms at the hotel are very large, very spacious, but it has to be said that the amenities, fixtures, fittings and decor are in need of an update. HOWEVER - please remember 2 things: First, the place is immaculately clean, and the bedding is spotless and comfortable. Second, you really have to remind yourself that any issues have to be set against the price of your stay. On that basis, and with a nice and completely adequate breakfast thrown in, if you want some good clean spacious comfort and can cope with the bus journey up to town (or the hired bikes from the hotel) then you'd probably get a real kick out of this place. A couple of nice little bars/restaurants are just around the corner too, with many more dotted along the road from hotel to town centre. Overall, yes there were things I would do to improve the place but remember that the price would probably have to go up to accommodate these improvements. A good, honest, clean, comfortable, budget hotel.

Escape the city
Staying on the lido allows you to regroup in quiet peace before getting into Central Venice. A lovely, quiet and simple hotel with al fresco breakfast in the morning sun. A quick bus trip to the vaporetto terminal. We'd stay here on our next visit to Venice

A hotel to be avoided at all costs
I booked this hotel and paid online from Hotels.com. I arrived at 9:00pm after a very full day of a long flight, and a very difficult meeting. I was very tired and I was looking forward to collapse and get a good night rest. On my arrival I was informed that they did not have any rooms for me (I emphasise that my room was booked and fully paid one month ago) and that they have made arrangements for me in another hotel around 2km away. And here comes the unprofessionalism of their services. They have made no attempt although I asked for it, to take me there. I would expect that the owner (who was lounging idle doing nothing with his car outside) would offer a lift. The thought not even occurred in his mind. Or I would expect that they would call a taxi for me. Instead they pointed me to the nearest bus stop. I told them that I had no ticket, they ignored it. So, I was waiting on the main road for an hour for a taxi to pass by, no luck. Then I had to find a place to buy a bus ticket and wait for the bus. In my opinion their behaviour is vastly unacceptable. I understand and appreciate that the last thing Venice/Lido wants is another visitor. But again this is not the way I would expect a hotel will treat its guests. A hotel to be avoided at any cost.

dissapiontment
there was no staff on duty, i had to let myself in the room wasn't what we had asked for it had a double bed ,it was in a very quiet area (most tings were closed), we got transferred to a sister hotel more central the next day. again very small room and had to get them to change the bed to 2 singles. had very limited internet connection, no kettle or tea making facilities in room and unhelpful staff (not all) to get me hot water for lemsips (as i had a cold ) so iwe were not that happy with the accomadation.

Nice, but not convenient to visiting Venice
It was nice, but the price plus the cost of getting there from Venice makes the cost not better than just getting a hotel in Venice. Otherwise it was nice and the staff was very friendly.

Paradise
Villa Paradiso was quite hard to find for a Venice first-timer like me. The bus lines A and B marked for Malamocco or Alberoni are the ones to get from Lido's waterbus station, but what is confusing is there is no 'malamocco' stop as the website advertises. Instead, there are five 'via Malamocco' stops marked 1/5, 2/5 etc, followed by a stop (whose name I've forgotten) which is actually in teh tiny village of Malamocco itself. i would advise either getting off at malamocco 5/5 or this one afterwards. If getting off at 5/5, cross the road and continue in the direction you were traveling, you should cross a bridge. Then, on your left is 'Fondamenta della madonna', the waterside path that leads down to villa Paradiso. The owner who greeted us was extremely friendly, although she spoke very little English. This wasn't a problem during our stay, however. If you don't speak Italian, she was fairly fluent in French so we used this as a broken middleground. Our room was lovely, very clean, with a comfy double bed, modern ensuite, TV, and full length glass doors to a small table and chairs outside. The only minor gripe I had with our stay was that the room was not 'soundproofed' as the description stated, and we were woken up by other guests talking at the reception, plus we could hear the toilet flushing and shower running of next door. This was only a minor annoyance, however, as the Villa Paradiso only has a few rooms, therefore the noise wasn't ever too loud. Also, being teh lazy students that we are, the times we were 'woken up' tended to be between 8-930ish, so nothing too antisocial. Malamocco itself is gorgeous. An extremely relaxing part of Lido to retreat to after a day of walking roudn Venice. Definitely check out the sunsets from one of the decking benches about two minutes walk from the villa. The restaurant 'Trattoria 'Da Scarso'' is just around the corner and serves fresh fish as well as other local dishes at an affordable price, plus there are a few mini shops for he bare necessities. For a larger food shop, I would recommend the Billa just up the street from the Lido waterbus station. I would highly recommend Villa Paradiso for a summer break to Venice as the villa itself, as well as the beautiful surroundings, serves as a nice addition to the general spleandor of Venice.
