This extended family summer get-a-way allowed time for individual pursuits, couples interests and group activities including canoeing, sketching & painting, knitting, reading, playing guitar, and playing with our grandchildren.
The house was a very interesting house. It was charming and a fun place to stay.
The house was exceedingly well equiped with everything one needed and than some. The host definitly had a high sense of hospitality when he set up the house. Only on slight item was the distance to the lake, it was walkable but not for an older individual. The positive thing was it was very private and with the canoe and kayak and paddle boat we had a fabulous time. If you need cell phone service you should set up internet service for your cell to be able to make calls.
I loved the house with so many bits of history of times past. It was also nice that it had just about anything you could possibly need which makes packing less stressful. I would have loved to k ow more about the artwork that adorns the walls and yard. I felt very much at peace while there.
Just returned home from a long weekend break. The property, from the house to the lake, was so beautiful. W
There was some rain but that just allowed for more reading by the fire.
My parents and I were in NH for a family wedding and this house was perfect for us! The host was very responsive and answered all my questions before our trip. My parents absolutely loved the house and said they would come back another time to enjoy all that NH has to offer.
The Cabin in the Sky was a lovely and very relaxing place to stay. We found it very easy to relax immediately thanks to the comfort of the home and the way it is set up. They had anything and everything you could need. And we loved having the lake just down a private road that is right on the property (we would often drive because the hills can be a bit steep for the seniors). The beach had so many options for seating and boating, and the pond/lake was crystal clear and calm. We also took advantage of the general store up the road which had good food as well. And we went to Shawâs for our larger grocery trip. Alan was extremely responsive and helpful. We were definitely sorry to see the week end. The only draw back was the stairs to the upstairs bedrooms. They are quite steep and our party was made up of two folks in their seventies and a 13 year old dog. But we made it work and the beds were comfortable. The layout allowed us to be doing different things at the same time without disturbing one another: my uncle could be watching TV in the living room, while I was in the old dining room doing a puzzle, or lying on the sitting room couch reading a book. We will definitely think back fondly of our time in Washington, NH!
Charming spacious house on private property with your own secluded beach (short walk to private beach on mountain lake). Well maintained and comfortable.
The was the first vacation for my two young kids (I have a tween as well) we wanted a place where we could enjoy some sun/water during the Summer without crowds. This was a great spot for that, the lake is beautiful and clear, we also had amazing star gazing at night. Amenities included things we didnât expect like canoes life jackets and fishing poles. Would just caution others that there are poisonous mushrooms on the beach so that children can be monitored more closely up by the tree line - easy enough to steer clear of.
We had a great trip, our son (2 years old) enjoyed swimming everyday. We had to drive the road as we was too young to walk it and we did not know how hilly it was. We did encounter a deer one drive ! Was great to have boats already there to use. Only thing we wished we had was a clothes line back at the house instead of using the chairs to dry our wet clothes. The sun in the back dried our things so quickly!
My family wanted a getaway to somewhere quiet but fun and this house was perfect. The lake and private beach access was gorgeous and serene. My kids spent hours on the paddel boat and jumping off the floating dock. We also enjoyed the fully stocked kitchen with everything we needed. The games came in handy during a big rainstorm our first night. The upstairs beds were very comfortable and convenient to have the laundry close by. Our only issue was the downstairs bedroom did have a strong odor, so people sensitive to smells would need to sleep upstairs. Other then that, the house was awesome, eclectic and everything we hoped it would be. Also, 35 miles away from Clairmont where the Common Man restaurant is next to a gorgeous waterfall, definitely worth the drive! We would recommend this house for any family looking for a peaceful getaway!
Amazing lake front location and an adorable old farm house!
If you are looking for a very secluded, quiet and pretty property to relax for your vacation, that also includes dipping into the lake, this is your spot! The house is very large and spacious. Overall the interior of the house is decorated with the old farmhouse charm, but you will find more modern and eclectic pieces throughout still. We slept in the upstairs bedroom as that mattresses felt the most comfortable out of the few available. The bathrooms are dated and could use an upgrade. But if this is not a main focus of yours and a priority for it to be newly renovated, it is perfect and serves its purpose. The outside is stunning and nice and flat. The walk from the house to the lakefront is literally 3 minutes. Our dogs absolutely loved the morning swims and dunks in the lake. It was very quiet, calm and relaxing. A truly positive experience if you are looking to disconnect from the world. I recommend staying here!
2024 was our second year back at this property and we had another wonderful time. The property is located in a triangle among three nice ski mountains and a ton of great hiking. The family had yet another relaxing winter trip.
Being able to stay in a house with this much history was a real treat! When we spoke to the owner, who was very quick to respond to our inquiries, we got an idea of the history of the house and environs.
We also enjoyed hiking nearby trails and walking in the fall colors. The lake is a short walk from the house on a private roadway which we did many mornings.
The kitchen was very well stocked and beds were comfortable. An all around memorable trip for us!
âCabin in the Skyâ was a perfect restful holiday destination with everything at hand the family cooks needed. Gorgeous forest surrounding one of the most pristine lakes with most comfortable chairs, terrific kayaks and canoes. We loved our stay and hope to visit again. Thank you!
Our family had a wonderful time staying at Cabin in the Sky. We were VERY impressed with all the amenities provided including toiletries! The house was very clean, had great decor and inspired us to get a cozy couch for our pooch as even his needs were met! The kids were enamored with the great collection of records that we listened to daily and the private beach was perfect for us! If you are looking for a quiet peaceful and relaxing vacation, this home is perfect!
Thank you Alan!
My family, I, and two dogs had a wonderful stay at the cottage. It was spacious enough for 4 adults that we weren't on top of each other. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking just about anything. Very thoughtful of the owners to provide as many things as possible to make the stay very comfortable. The area is very serene, and beautiful. The lake is gorgeous. Just a heads up if you have elderly relatives or friends visiting you'll need a car to drive to the lake. The lakefront is private and for 2 days we were the only ones swimming in it. A cute convenience store in town is 4 minutes away for basic essentials and food. Shaws is 20 minutes away. We had a lovely time looking at the stars at night and relaxing in the lake during the day.
We enjoyed the lake and beach area very much. We had coffee by the water each morning and our dog swam until her hearts content. The lake is further from the house than we expected, but worth the walk.
The living area is very nice and has plenty of seating for a large group. Thankful for a king sized bed too! Most rentals don't have large beds.
Lots of hidden gems in the area, we saw deer out the back door, and the general store has great food!
The only thing that needs fixing is the spigot by the garage. It's hard to get to, and it leaks quite a bit.
Overall a nice quiet spot for a get away.
The property was a perfect New England winter getaway. The house had all the amenities needed to make our stay comfortable. The wood stove was an added bonus and kept us warm and cozy after a long day of outdoor activities. The house is situated perfectly between Pats Peak and Mt Sunapee ski areas as well as countless hiking trails. Alan was very communicative and set up our stay with ease. Highly recommend this house if looking to tuck away for a cozy New England winter getaway.
The home was wonderful, spacious, cozy and stocked well with ervything we needed. The owners are kind and very responsive. Just an awareness for others, knowing that the owners have absolute no control of neighboring property, the "F**k Biden sign that was VERY large and obvious next door was concerning and made at least one person in out party uncomfortable to be outdoors.
Thank you to Alan for sharing your gem of a home!!!
