The staff was not friendly at all, not very welcoming to brown skinned customers. Did not greet us at all. The room stunk. We loved Glacier NP but I will never return to Montana. People in general are very prejudice and it's so very sad!

No elevators and limited parking with extra parking below the hotel grounds at gravel lot across from the lodge. Not good for seniors.

Wonderful! The only problem is that there is not an elevator and getting your suitcase upstairs is difficult if you’re older. There is a dolly to help but still heavy.

Thanks, Joetta. We have a policy of offering luggage assistance. I'm sorry that you didn't get asked if you needed help. We will continue to work on communicating that. The positive high 5 and Wonderful! are appreciated.

Cozy Lodge within a beautiful, serene area

Pros: We really enjoyed the look of this lodge, and the inviting lobby area. The room we had was also comfortable.
Cons: The cleanliness of the room. As we went to lay down and relax on the bed, we realized there were strands of hair on the bed, as well as the pillows.
Location: The lodge is situated in a beautiful setting, with several things to do for children, nearby. There is the Alpine Slide and the Ariel Adventure Park.
The Kandahar Lodge is a beautiful lodge atop the Whitefish Mountain Resort. Upon entering the lodge in the evening, the smell of burning wood resonated throughout the inviting, and cozy lobby. A room with two beds, was spacious enough for our family of three. The only disappointment we encountered was the thought of whether or not the room was actually cleaned. Our first room looked clean, but we realized there were multiple strands of hair on both beds, as well as pillows. Also, as we went to place our items within the refrigerator, we found three take out boxes with food in them, left behind. It made us wonder whether the bedding and room had actually been cleaned. The front desk staff was very accommodating, and offered us another room. We checked into that room, and there wasn't any hair on the bed, or food left in the refrigerator, but, there was gum smashed onto the trash bag in the bathroom, and the wrapper from the soap bar had been opened. Also, we went to make a pot of hot water, and there was dried up coffee within the pot. It hadn't been washed at all. Throughout our five nights there, we used the glassware, and it really didn't seem to have been washed very well. For the price we paid per night, we expected not only a beautiful place to stay, but a clean one as well. Although this lodge was beautiful and cozy, I don't think we'd stay there again, not knowing wholeheartedly that our room, as well as our bedding, was actually cleaned.

Beautiful area and beautiful hotel.

We stayed for two nights and were so pleased with the accommodations. Everything was very clean and all the staff were very helpful. The lobby was so comfortable--the temperatures had dropped and the fire that was built was so cozy and hard to leave. Loved our stay!

Our hotel had many breath-taking views.

Pros: The location of being up in the mountain and surrounded by breathtaking views.
Cons: Wi-Fi and satellite for watching some news/movies when relaxing in the room.
Location: We enjoyed the lift up to the top of the mountain and hiked down the Danny -On trail. Driving to enjoy the views.
The location is special and the hotel has a rustic feeling. The beds are comfortable and rooms are clean. The atmosphere is friendly and you feel safe too. They have a cozy fireplace inside the lobby for relaxing. Seating outside to take in fresh air and scenery. The satellite and Wi-Fi is not adequate being up so high in the mountain.

The Kandahar Lodge staff bent over backwards to assist us with each of our requests!

Pros: Free breakfast, Quiet, excellent in-house restaurant (cafe kandahar), excellent in-house bar (snug)
We stayed at the Kandahar Lodge the night before and the night after a six-day hiking trip in Glacier National Park. The beds were as comfortable as any I have ever found away from home, the rooms and common areas were spotless, the continental breakfast selections were excellent, and the desk staff were as helpful as any I have encountered in forty-plus years of traveling. And to top things off, the in-house restaurant and bar were outstanding!

Worth the trip up the mountain

The Kandahar Lodge is much nicer than the photos on their own website. The "rooms" are actually condo units. Some are just a hotel room, others are studio apartments with small but fully equipped kitchens. (We fixed a dinner and several breakfasts with no problem.). Some of the units have sleeping lofts and can accommodate up to 8 people (but the lofts are a tight squeeze). There is an executive suite that is 1800+ square feet, very expensive, but worth it if you have a group because there are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, sunken livingroom, dining room, etc. -- a complete "house" within the Kandahar Lodge. That unit is for sale and we took a look. If we win the lottery, it is the first purchase we will make. The decor of the Kandahar Lodge is western/ski lodge but more upscale than you would think from their website. The bed and bedding are top quality. The entire property has been totally renovated in the past 5 years. There is a fitness room that is equivalent to most hotel fitness rooms. There is an outdoor hot tub that we didn't use but it looked nice. Also sauna and steam rooms. A Whitefish spa has a satellite location at Kandahar but apparently it is just a small room for massages, etc. If you want a spa vacation, this probably isn't the place. However, the lobby is fabulous, with a (real) fire in the huge fireplace every night. The Snug Bar overlooks the lobby and is very cozy. The Kandahar Cafe (which is really a high-end dinner house restaurant) is superb. Make reservations for dinner as soon as you make your room reservations because they only accommodate a small number of diners (fewer even than they have table space for). The owner/chef, Andrew, does much of the cooking himself and the quality is comparable to any restaurant we have been to in our hometown of Washington, DC. Be sure to try the elk (both the appetizer and the entree). The other highlight of the Kandahar is the staff, every one of whom goes out of his/her way to make your stay enjoyable. Even the maid left us a thank you note for our (small) tip! During our visit, the road from Whitefish to the Big Mountain was under construction. Yes, it was very dusty and slowed us down. But the Kandahar was worth it!
