This is a university residence hall. Even had the sports mascot on the wall! Vending machines, coin laundry, and security on site. In proximity to various convenience stores, nightclubs, and restaurants. About a 15 minute walk to museums, shopping centre, YMCA/YWCA, and convention centre. About 25 minutes walk to the museum.

If you need an affordable place to stay downtown for a few nights, this place is for you. Typically quiet, restaurants nearby, no disturbances or unnecessary noise. The mini fridge and freezer is a nice addition, storage is great, washroom is fine, and the people are understanding enough. Overall a fine experience, would stay here again.

It was a good place for the price. Quiet. Nice to have bathroom. Vending machine had no water bottles though there was a water machine on the first floor. Vending machine had junk food. I appreciated the staff telling me to wait for my airport cab inside at 3:30 am as a man walked out in front of the building just as the cab pulled up. The bed sheet kept slipping off so I slept on the plastic cot without a sheet cover. There could be more light around the desk. But it all worked out well.

The cheapest joint in town

This hotel is right by the dodgy side of downtown - I was warned that going out at night was not really an option (not that there seemed to be anything to do anyways). The mattresses are little better than giant saltine crackers and it is positively criminal they charge 65 dollars/night and don't offer in-room wifi.

Nobody works here in person...

There are systemic problems. Management responded relatively quickly to problems with lack of emergency numbers to call if there are no staff at the reception desk and the door is locked (and also compensated me for the serious problems that I had). However, there continued to be a lack of staff on the premises. You have to have a cell phone that is charged so that you can call a number and leave a voicemail, then you have to wait for someone to call you back. The lack of staff at the office, even during the posted (and very limited) office open hours is insurmountable if you need staff for any reason.

The property is a typical university residence but a little over priced since parking is a problem and the staff were not really professional. The lack of WiFI in the rooms and lack of plug ins was a problem. It is marginally cheaper than a hotel and more expensive than university residences in downtown London (UK). For me, the value for money was not great and I’d suggest that an Air B&B or regular hotel is a better option.
