Escape to Shenandoah Valley for the weekend or work remotely in a picturesque retreat. Our just-renovated modern farmhouse sits on two acres just outside Woodstock, Va., only 90 minutes from D.C.

This home is the perfect outpost for a country respite, centrally located near these attractions:
+ Seven Bends state park (dog friendly) for walking or kayaking (10-minute drive)
+ Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive or West Virginia hiking spots (25-minute drive)
+ Nearby wineries: Muse Vineyards, Shenandoah Vineyards (both a 10-minute drive)
+ Nearby breweries: Swover Creek Farms (15-minute drive), Woodstock Brewhouse (5-minute drive)
+ Historic downtown Woodstock with a superb cafe, restaurants, and antique stores (5-minute drive)
+ Fairview Park with two fenced dog parks (small and big dog sides) with obstacle courses (one-minute drive)
+ Majestic Luray Caverns (45-minute drive)

Our home was built in 1900 and tastefully renovated in 2021, retaining its original charm with all new appliances and amenities. While the beds and sofas are new, the antique hardwood furniture is locally sourced to retain an authentic decor. The 2,000 square feet offer ample space and the two-acre property provides a beautiful setting. Amenities include:
+ Fully fenced yard (yes, the fencing has chicken wire to ensure four-legged family members do not escape!)

Our three bedrooms are capable of comfortably accommodating six guests. We may be able to accommodate a couple more people - just ask!

Additional notes:
- Interstate 81, about half a mile from our property, offers convenient access to many attractions within the Shenandoah Valley. There can be ambient highway noise audible from our property, depending on traffic and the weather, so we have a white noise machine for guests sensitive to noise.
- From approximately April through November, we have a mowing service mow our lawn. They typically mow on Tuesdays in the late morning/early afternoon (weather permitting) and usually complete the mowing in 30 minutes.

RELAXING COUNTRY GETAWAY

This was such a relaxing property and very easy communication with the hosts. The fenced in yard was perfect for our pup to run around. The kitchen is well stocked and very spacious with a very comfortable dining room table to enjoy meals. The location was very convenient for short drives to parks and hikes. The house is nicely furnished, comfortable and has beautiful backdrop of the mountains. This was such an awesome location to get away and relax. We would definitely recommend this property.

Second time staying here - loved it!

This was our second time staying here and we loved it! The fenced yard is incredible and our sheltie had a blast! This house is very dog friendly - trash can outside for doggy business and wire on the fence to really keep your dog contained while still letting them see outside the yard. The hosts were wonderful - thank you for letting us enjoy your beautiful home for a few days!

Great Weekend Stay

Peaceful Farmhouse

We stayed at the lovely farmhouse and had the most relaxing time. The large porch, swing, and chairs is where we spent the majority of our time. When we were inside, the large sectional allowed our whole family to sit together, play cards, and listen to music. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept wonderfully with the black out curtains. The bathrooms were all well appointed and we were grateful to have the washer and dryer on site as well. Communication with the host was wonderful and we cannot wait to come back!

Rainy Weekend Getaway

This is an absolutely beautiful old home with all the modern comforts you would need. We were in the area for a family get together and decided to make an extended weekend out of it. The tropical rainstorm meant that it wasn't a great weekend for outdoor activities, but it was a great one for staying in this cozy home and watching a movie or reading a book. Just a wonderful getaway. Highly recommend!

Perfect place for dog owners!

We stayed in September and absolutely loved it. Could not have asked for a better stay. Our favorite things: - GREAT fenced yard - our three year old sheltie was so happy. The fence is is well maintained and we never had any worries about letting our puppy wander around. - Patio - The patio with the table, chairs, and umbrella was just lovely. We ate all our meals out there and enjoyed the great weather until the rain came! It was extremely comfortable and perfectly situated close to the back door and the kitchen. - Kitchen - The kitchen was well stocked with all the basics. It was very clean and a pleasure to cook in. - The couch - This is a little thing, but we absolutely loved the couch in the living room. SO comfy! Great for naps! - Binder with Instructions / Recommendations - the house binder had all the instructions you could need for the "what if" situations and checkout instructions. It was so helpful to have that and gave me peace of mind. They had some great recommendations for restaurants and near by hikes that we hope to check out next time. Thanks to Sydney for fantastic communication and clear instructions. So very much appreciated!

Perfect Skyline Drive getaway

The house is absolutely beautiful, with nice new appliances and a completely fenced in yard. If you want to bring your dog(s) you couldn’t find a better place to stay. The fence wire mesh goes right down to grass, so getting loose is a bit more challenging for the dog. The rooms were amazing, with nice touch and plenty of room and who wouldn’t want a Peloton bike to work out, when it’s raining. The kitchen is perfect with plenty of storage and dishes and utensils. I could go on and on about how nice the place is. I can say two things; 1 - it won’t be our last visit and 2 - we would highly recommend staying here.

Farm House

This property was very nicely furnished and had everything we needed to celebrate a wonderful weekend for our 56th wedding anniversary. I like to cook. The kitchen was well equipped. The fenced yard was a big plus. Our puppy had a great time zooming around the yard.

Beautiful Farmhouse Getaway

My husband and I took our 2 dogs to this beautiful property for the weekend. Sydney made the check in and check out process very easy. The home was very clean and inviting. The fenced in yard for our dogs to run around in was a bonus. Proximity to great restaurants, Seven Bends State Park, and Muse Vineyards made it easy to exploring. We definitely recommend this property when visiting Woodstock.

Comfortable and well equipped! Great option if traveling with dogs.

We were in Woodstock for a very quick trip so did not get to enjoy this recently renovated house as much as we would have liked. However, it was comfortable and cozy for our short stay with our dog. The kitchen was especially well equipped with new appliances and quality cook ware and dishes. The fenced yard is a big plus. The hosts were great communicators and very helpful with our questions. It is very convenient to downtown Woodstock.

Just Perfect!

We were in the area for an AKC event with our two German Shepherds, and we enjoyed 5 wonderful nights at Chris and Sydney's charming farmhouse. House had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, and the fenced in yard was perfect for fetch and frisbee play with our puppers. Seven Bends State Park was a short drive away and well worth the visit. Check in/out was a breeze, and communication was great! Highly recommend and would love to stay again!!

Spacious Shenandoah retreat

Amazing rental, even better than we had hoped for. Securely fenced yard for the dogs, comfortable beds for the humans and a very well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed several family dinners around the farmhouse table and made a lot of great memories! Internet was great, we worked remotely and had plenty of bandwidth for zoom calls.
