Wonderful holiday

We stayed for 2 weeks. The hotel was much nicer than we had expected. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The room was great lots of space to unpack for a 2 week stay. Lovely view and great beach. Thank you Coral Sands

I loved the quaintness and charm of the hotel. The rooms were exactly as pictured on the website, and lovely. The staff is exceptional. My only suggestion is a few more chaise loungers and umbrellas for the pool area. Also umbrellas for the beach, chaise loungers are available on a first come basis. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Wonderful in that it is not too small nor too large, just the right size! Staff were always very helpful. Right on the beach.

Good beach frontage, but not in a good area

Pros: The beach frontage and quietness.
Cons: Better communication by staff. Sewage issue was a safety/health concern and they did nothing but put up a small non-descriptive sign at front desk.
Location: Location was not good. Recommend staying away from the South side of Island. Much better location is north or Bridgetown on the west coast.
We arrived for Christmas week and had never been to Barbados. We checked all the reviews on the Coral Sands, which seemed very positive. Because it was a holiday week, it was hard to get chairs at the pool and there were no umbrellas at the beach. It was quiet, which was nice and the ocean view is beautiful. The first night all of us had massive bed-bug bites. These definitely were not mosquito bites. We spoke to the front desk and they sprayed the room the next day and changed the linens and towels. Policy is not to do the sheets and towels each need to request. We weren't the only ones complaining it seemed. Walking to St Lawrence Gap was close, but it was a very dirty and perhaps unsafe walk. There was sewer maintenance going on several nights, which left a very powerful odor. We did enjoy great dinners at Primo and Castway's as well as a Mexican restaurant and some bars. Other nights we went further north towards Bridgetown. A major issue involved a small sign at the front desk one night "beach closing at 6pm and will reopen next morning." Apparently the local authorities were opening a swamp gate directly into the ocean. It was disgusting. They said it was not sewage, but it clearly was and the locals confirmed for us this happens a few times a year. Terrible!! We have the note that was provided. Unsettling was the front desk refused to directly answer our question and those of many other guess. Handled very poorly.

Great Value-Beautiful View

Cons: No free Internet
The view from the balcony is to die for!! We stayed on the 3rd floor of this 4-story hotel and had a wonderful view. The location is good if you are looking for something near restaurants and bars that you can walk to, but far enough away to not hear it. Be sure to walk down the beach to Carib Bar & Grill--Great moderately priced casual beachfront restaurant. I only have 3 complaints: 1. They only had 5 beach chairs available (for a hotel with 36 or so rooms, that seemed like a very small amount). 2. All the pillows on the beds smelled like a mildewy towel. I had to smell all of them to find just one that didn't make me gag. But it was hardly something to complain about. 3. No free Internet. The rooms were immaculately clean--huge bath area with double sink and walk-in shower. The hotel staff is very friendly, like all Barbadians we encountered. We loved the full kitchen. Be sure to go the grocery store down the side street from the one on the main street. The one on the main street is really expensive and hardly offers anything. Breakfast on the balcony every morning was the best! The white buses that go down the main street take you just about anywhere you need to go for $2. Don't be afraid to take them, the entertainment in them are truly a great experience.
