Great location, staff were excellent, bathroom was slightly tired looking but fully functioning, the family room we had was great with a king bed and a double pull out bed which was perfect for the kids, close to all the sights, would recommend and book again

Check in took far too long as your system was apparently running slow. The bar was manned by reception staff which may have been the cause for delay. Waiting time at the bar, service slow. Out room was on the 2nd floor & very noisy due to drunk women in the adjacent room. Soap dispenser pumps not working, it took 5 minutes to get a decent amount out. TV set to Babestation every time we put the TV on changed channel. Breakfast was good, staff efficient. We arrived early so we were OK but there was no seating at 9.30am. We have been returning customer to Holiday Inn but its time for a change.

Great place and spot

This was a nice place, comfy bed, good shower and towels ( full size ) not the half size some places have. Breakfast was good, walking distance to so many sites and food and drink. We would definitely stay here again

Staff very friendly and welcoming. Room was very small considering what we paid for our 2-night stay and could do with a freshen up decoratively. Didn't eat in the hotel so cant comment on the food. There are much better hotels in York for the price paid.

Had a very enjoyable atay. Staff were really helpful and friendly and were quick to help when we had an issue with a room. Rooms were clean and decent selection of food for breakfast. Would recommend.

Overall good experience

Overall good, however we didn't like the policy where GBP 30 deposit was collected from us at the time of check in. We had prepaid for the room and nowhere in the app was this mentioned. If Hotels start this practice I think it will leave a bad impression overall. If the hotel is worried about something, charging all customers 30 GBP at checkin as a contingency is not the answer. They need to look at what other policies or other measures that can be taken instead of inconveniencing all customers. Otherwise service was good, room was also nice however the double bed felt a bit small.

Perfect location

Stayed with my husband for the night. Warm welcome upon arrival and easy check in. Bedroom was nice and quiet and up high as requested which was great. Room was warm through the night but air con worked well. Bar staff need to be better trained as I requested a Bacardi and coke and it was server in a pint glass! Breakfast £16 pp so didn’t eat here. Always stay in this area of york as close to centre. We used Q parking at the Barbican and it worked out at £14 for 24 hours and was only a 5 minute walk.

Location was great but property is tired and rundown Rooms are small, the beds are small and uncomfortable. Only paid parking available almost a block away. Overcrowded with too many bus tours. Not a good value for the cost.

Given a room which was out of order and being repaired to start with. Had to go back to reception and queue for 22 minutes before getting re seen and another room offered and made out as they were doing us a favour!
