Orchard Lodge, occupies a secluded site, hidden behind a retirement estate, in a riverside village, with landscape views.
It is just 4 miles, 10-15 minutes drive to York's ancient walls alternatively, it is only 2miles to York's excellent Park & Ride or a 30 minute cycle ride to get into the ancient centre of York.
Two ensuite bedrooms, open plan dining room / lounge, TV / NOW stick for digital TV

Richard was lovely, we arrived early as we had set a satnav for lodge as we headed up. He talked through everything and gave great advice, explained how heating worked and left tea coffee cake and detergent for both washing and dish washerHighly recommend this boast and we hope to come back next year

Quiet, private place close to York. About an hour to the moors. It suited us well It was a delightful place. You go through a park of small homes to get there but it's very quiet. Easy parking and check in and check out. We used the washer/dryer all in one and it worked well Our hosts left us some milk and a very nice chocolate cake. Had a spacious living room/dining room and a very nice porch. The only thing we didn't catch is that it's a one shower place. There's two full bathrooms but one has a bathtub without a shower.Overall , it was wonderful and all four of us would love to stay there again.

As first time visitors to the UK from the U.S., the Orchard Lodge was possibly the best accomodations we've ever experienced here or abroad! It met all our expectations and more! It was perfect for visiting York, Thirsk, & Yorkshire Dales. Our host was most hospitable, kind, thoughtful, & a wealth of knowledge on local history, sights, restaurants/pubs, & local services. Orchard Lodge has our highest reccommedation. It's not just a wonderful place to stay, it is an English village experience of a lifetime!

Americans in York

The stay was great, everything was as published. It is quiet and secuded...so if you arrive after dark in fog like we did, have a flashlight/torch handy to help make your way from the parking area to the house. We ate at the nearby pub and had a nice meal. The host was super responsive to our communication via VRBO. It was located about 15 minute drive to York.

Great weekend break with friends

Our group of five uni friends had a great time at the lodge for a weekend away. It was everything we could have wished for- quiet, clean and comfortable. The 2-hour walk to York along the river was very enjoyable. enjoyable

Booked this lodge for my daughter's for a quiet weekend away , the location was great, near to middlethorpe hall spa. A lovely clean spacious lodge highly recommend for a relaxing weekend away.

Wonderful!

Loved staying here for my girlfriend’s birthday. The lodge is perfect for a family stay or romantic getaway. Richard was more than helpful. Fantastic location for visiting York and the surrounding area. Everything was easy. Would def recommend!

Peaceful, tranquil hideaway but still close to York. The photos don't do this property justice, very spacious inside. Very clean,comfortable, practical and well thought out.!!!Communication with Richard is excellent and responds to enquiries very quickly. Wouldn't hesitate to book again and highly recommended!!.

Unique Retreat

Lovely secluded spot

This property is ideal for people who want to find a peaceful place to stay. The accommodation is spacious and very clean and tidy. We couldn't fault it and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is also a great place to stay for using the Park & Ride to go into York, going to the beautiful local beaches of Staithes, Robin Hood's Bay and Filey and also visiting the Yorkshire Moors.

Very nice location as a lot of attractions are within an hour drive. Although in a residential area, but the lodge is very secluded and only living creatures we could see were birds and rabits.. Richard was very quick in responding to all of our queries and was very helpful. Bridget spent long time in cleaning And sanitising the lodge to keep it ready for us. Have to mention that the chocolate cake was amazing welcome treat. Our autistic son loved the entire stay and would definitely plan another visit as York has much more to discover..!!

Everything you would need.

The property is very clean and well equipped. It is in a very quiet and secluded location and ideal for anyone wanting to use as a base for day trips around North Yorkshire. The veranda is lovely and it was entertaining watching the rabbits and squirrels.
