This is an entire guest suite in the basement of our home. The suite has a semi-private entrance accessed through the garage. The unit is 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom with a spacious living room and large kitchenette/dining area. Total unit size is approximately 700 sq ft.
The space consists of 4 rooms total: a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchenette / dining room.
The living room is the largest room and hosts a nice lounging area to watch TV, read a book, or play a game. The space contains a sectional couch, recliner, TV (equipped with Chromecast), coffee table, and a desk.
Catch some Z's in the bedroom in the queen sized bed. This room has a large closet where you may store your clothing and luggage. It is stocked with additional blankets, a space heater, an additional fan, and a steamer for your clothes.
In the dining room, you'll find a spacious area to prepare food and eat. The space comes equipped with a dining table, microwave, mini-fridge, and coffee pot.
The bathroom has a stall shower. Basic necessities like soap, shampoo, towels, toilet paper, and a hair dryer are provided.
The unit is accessed through the red door inside the home's garage. Upon entering this door, there is a stairwell to your immediate left which lead to the basement. At the bottom of the stairs, there is a door straight ahead that leads into the unit. The garage and stairwell are the only shared spaces.
The home can accommodate a maximum of 2 guest vehicles. Guests should park on the street in front of the home.
We are located conveniently close to EMU (a 5 minute drive), and only a 15 minute drive to UofM.
Other things to note:
• Because this is a basement unit, you must be able to climb a flight of stairs.
• A fire extinguisher is located underneath the sink in the bathroom.
• In case of emergency, the unit has a fire escape window in the bedroom.
• Our home has central heat and air, but there is not a thermostat in the unit. We keep our home at about 70-72 degrees year-round, but the basement tends to be 2-4 degrees cooler. The unit does have a ceiling fan in the bedroom and a portable fan and portable heater are provided for supplemental temperature control. Additional blankets are also provided.
• We have two small dogs that live upstairs (miniature schnauzers -- a hypoallergenic breed). You will not interact with our pups, but they are likely to bark on the other side of the wall when you enter the house. You may hear occasional dog-related noises upstairs.
