Very small room not even a place to sit down! Difficult to find live tv. Tiny bathroom. Luckily the breakfast was varied and good! Altogether I find it hard to believe that it was a 3 star hotel!
This hotel was built during the Fred Harvey heyday and is on the historic register. So it has a lot of character. Rooms are nicely updated and very clean. If you're interested in the sandhill crane migration, this hotel is centrally located and close to the wildlife reserve. It is also close to restaurants and coffee shops.
The hotel is almost 100 years old and has retained much of its antique charm. Old bar (not open) in the main lobby with antique cash registers. Original elevator with
The Monte Villa is historical with awesome antiques, and amazing looking bar (not operational), and the coolest 1930's elevator. But - the rooms are tiny and they never should place a king bed in a tiny room. We had no room to dress or undress or move around and we are very small people. The check in person was awesome and friendly but the rooms just are not okay for a return visit.
I like old hotels that have been remodeled, but the interior design of colors and textures in the halls was not done well. Breakfast was not good. Beds were very comfortable!
The uniqueness of the old hotel. Internet service was a bit hard to figure out - once I saw the passwords for each area posted by a light switch, then it was easy. Breakfast was good.
