A really nice, friendly pub in the village of Hawkshead. The room was good with an excellent bed and the food was amazing. Weâd definitely be up for returning.
Lovely place and very friendly staff. Great food and choice of drinks. The area of Hawkshead was gorgeous.
The room was very cozy, we stayed in room 7. The only downside was the creaky floor boards in the room that got a little annoying in the end and the lack of hanging space.
We would definitely stay at the Red Lion Inn again
This was a last minute trip and honestly it was just a lovely one. We werenât there long but the bed was comfy, the room was clean and the staff were friendly. Canât complain.
The inn's rooms are quirky and characterful, fitting the age of the building: wonky floors and walls, nothing square. Facilities were a bit variable: the heating wasn't working but the staff were able to provide an electric heater to overcome that. The shower was either hot or cold, nothing in the middle. Hot was ok, with plenty of flow, so it worked.
The food in the restaurant was excellent, good menu, really tasty.
Location is great.
There is only a small car park on site, but we got lucky.
Traditional old lakeland inn, rooms not luxurious, but in keeping with the age of place and lots of character. Good choice at breakfast, very tasty, and goo service
Great village pub in an ideal spot. Lovely village. Room was nice. Breakfast really good. Evening meals very good too. Will return here when next in the Lakes.
Value for money. The staff at the property were friendly. Easy to check in. It had a very close community feel to the pub and the whole village. The village is picturesque and quiet. The pub has an Italian menu on the evening and the breakfast was good. Very close to other pubs and restaurants and next to the coop convenience store. Great stay. The room was basic and had a sink in the bedroom and was a bit wonky due to it being an old building but had everything you needed.
The hamlet of Hawkshead is a national treasure. Tucked away from busier villages like Ambleside. The Red Lion made for a relaxed , comfortable evening with very friendly staff and locals.
Came to stay to visit the area for work. The hotel was my base. The staff were so attentive as soon as I walked through the door of the historic coaching pub. Itâs was busy and bustling and I was concerned that it would be noisy in my room but as I was shown to my room tucked away along the winding corridor I was happily wrong. The rooms are the other end to the pub so didnât hear a thing! The breakfasts are simple but thoughtful and they are happy to cater to everyoneâs tastes. The room was clean, quiet and snuggly. I would highly recommend a stay here and would love to go back. The little village of hawkshead is like stepping back in time. Itâs beautiful!
