A lovely hotel next to Beatrix Potter's retreat at Hill Top with views down to Esthwaite Water. Our breakfast was included in our booking and we decided to eat at the hotel each evening as the food was delicious and very well presented.
Lovely old country house in beautiful grounds . Paid extra for a lake view , but not much of it to see. Staff are lovely . Breakfast , plenty to choose from , toast and juice not topped up or asked if we needed anything else. Room was basic for amount paid. Walls needed cleaning / repainting. Bathroom , dust and spiders ,black mould in the shower, needs a deep clean. Bed was broken and didnât fit together , and made a lot of noise when getting in and out. Clean bedding , and towels. No complimentery biscuits . Cheap , thin toilet rolls. Overall a lovely hotel , but needs attention to detail especially cleaning . Tea is disgusting , couldnât drink it.
Great place to visit for a relaxing break. Excellent service by all the friendly staff. Good choice of meals, not pub food at all. Will be booking to go again soon.
Staff were lovely and very pleasant however the room was very tired this included cobwebs on the ceiling and the light fittings, the bath was patched and cracked and there was peeling paint in the bathroom
We enjoyed our 3 night stay at Sawrey House. All the staff were very friendly and efficient. We eat there each evening and the food was always tasty and nicely presented. Very close to the Windermere ferry which we used a couple of times.
Attentive friendly staff, excellent food, good selection of drinks at the bar. Fantastic setting on the quieter side of Lake Windermere. Bed was a bit too firm for me but I've been nowhere that the bed is the same as mine at home. We will be back
Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. The staff are friendly. However there is a big difference in the size of rooms for the same price. We were given room 8 which was too small for comfort with a double bed instead of king size and you have to crouch under tv to make tea and coffee. It spoiled our weekend. So best to check before you book and donât book room 8 as itâs not worth the money charged.
Absolutely loved our four night stay here! We were in the Esthwaite four poster room which was amazing. One of the most comfortable beds Iâve ever slept in. The hotel has incredible views from the terrace and restaurant. The staff were all incredibly friendly and accommodating and the food in the restaurant was very good, although limited choice for vegetarians. Breakfast choices were varied and excellent, catering for all tastes. Lovely quiet bars inside with great selection of wine. WiFi difficult to connect to. Overall really impressed and would love to come again!
Booked last minute on the way back home from Scotland. It looked good online and we were very pleased with our one night stay.Friendly check in and dinner that evening was supurb.Highly recommended.
The location was perfect and the views from the terrace were exceptional and breathtakingly beautiful.
The table service at the restaurant could be improved. Felt that the waiter hovered, making one feel a tad uncomfortable.
Overall a lovely place to stay.
