Good little single room. Comfortable. Would have enjoy an easy chair.
Excellent area. Good staff. Great breakfast, even if there were no kippers this morning!
Very noisy in the old building in the back. While rooms have been updated nicely, the insulation in the walls and ceiling certainly was not. Whenever anyone walks around, the building creaks and groans like an old schooner in a storm. You can hear conversations and TVs in the adjacent rooms and above. We were treated to the BBC news until 1:30am and it started again at 6am. Breakfast was good as most reviews say. Otherwise, I am very surprised that more reviews donât mention how noisy it is. Good from far, far from good.
Our room was very clean, roomy with lots of storage and very comfortable beds.
Our bed was on the wall adjacent to next doors bathroom. There does not appear to be any sound insulation between the rooms as we could hear everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, coming from next door. We had one couple next door who were obviously talking to each other while one was in the bathroom and the other in the bedroom. It went on for two hours, preventing us from getting to sleep. You should be able to do this without worrying about annoying anyone in the next room.
When we checked out we asked about this and we were told that the rooms were refurbished after COVID and no one has complained about this before which I find extremely difficult to believe.
They also seem very keen on leaving lights on. There was a massive security light outside our room in the courtyard which was on day and night.
We also had our bedroom window open the first night but had to close it due to the noise, possibly coming from a boiler or some sort of machinery.
Its such a shame about these issues as otherwise it was lovely but this would put us off going back.
