Lovely place and just the right size for two people. Private and quiet. Super comfortable bed. Good location for walking to a few key places nearby. As seniors, it was a bit tricky to follow the rule to take shoes off outside and leave them outside (as opposed to taking them off on the mat immediately after entering), as it was difficult to then lift our bags in/out the door without getting damp/cold socks; but we managed! Would definitely stay here again.

Better than advertised! City? Country? Where am I? Two deer came right by the sliding glass door entrance to greet us shortly after arrival. Conveniently located. Great communication by host. Super clean! Attention to detail really shines through with this one. The best night’s sleep I’ve had on this trip through Northern California.

This was a perfect resting spot for my daughter and I. I wouldn't recommend it for more than 2 people as it is quite a compact space. The beds were extremely comfortable and the space was very clean. There was space on the counter for all your coffee and snacking needs and the mini fridge held our leftovers just right. Great central location for beautiful hikes and great food. Extra responsive host who was very helpful. Ask about her other rentals that are meant for different sized groups. The only thing that feels a bit odd is not having access to a "kitchen" sink but not at all a concern with all of the other amenities. It was too chilly when we visited to enjoy the outdoor space but it was darling and the walks through the neighborhood were fabulous with forested and ocean views!

What an amazing place to stay! Everything is sparkling clean and beautiful. The bed was comfortable with quality bedding and pillows (slept great.) Everything was well organized and communicated. The little fire pit and searing outside was very sweet. And it’s just a short walk to great forest hiking! My host was helpful but I also felt Like I had plenty of privacy. I highly recommend!!

Perfect for father/son quick visit

I visited Arcata with my 18-year-old son to tour Cal Poly Humboldt and do some mountain biking. Andrea's apartment was absolutely perfect for this, and I only wish we could have stayed longer! The neighborhood is quiet and residential, but with easy access to town, campus, and the trail system. Andrea was a wonderful host and the apartment is perfectly appointed. I appreciated the Peet's coffee K-cups. I could not have asked for anything more. The almond toffee chocolate cookies were off the hook!

Andrea and Rachel really have outdone themselves! This place is nestled in the rear of a larger home with a sliding glass door entrance and beautiful fountain area to greet you. The trickle of the water through the screen door while relaxing after a long day of work was such a special treat! The bed is amazing and the cookies Andrea leaves for you are delicious! The hostess has a wonderful list of nearby walks and eateries. Murphy’s, the local grocery, is gourmet! Take a walk in the community forest or down by the marsh, and drive over to Eureka on Friday night for food trucks and lovely shopping! Don’t miss this retreat!

10/10 would stay again

My wife and I left Arcata Forest Retreat this morning after what may have been our easiest and most comfortable trip stay. Andrea has clearly put a LOT of thought and effort into curating a comfortable and clean space, with just about everything you'd need. The house rules are incredibly reasonable (and clearly outlined for you with no room for confusion) and the accommodations are abundant. We were greeted with a cozy and modern room filled with complimentary coffee, a great variety of tea, and a plate of delicious toffee cookies from a local bakery. Overall we had a lovely experience and highly recommend this host, Thank you Andrea! -Nichole &Luna

Adorable

I had the most wonderful stay at this lovely little space tucked away in the forest! The setting was absolutely serene—surrounded by towering trees, fresh air, and the soothing sounds of nature. It was the perfect place to unwind and recharge. The space itself was beautifully designed, with a cozy and welcoming feel. It was spotlessly clean, thoughtfully decorated, and equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The layout made great use of the space, and I especially loved the attention to small details that made it feel special—like the soft lighting, plush bedding, and little extras the host provided. One of the highlights was sitting outside, taking in the peaceful views and enjoying the tranquility of the forest. Whether it was morning coffee or an evening glass of wine, the outdoor area was a slice of paradise. The host was fantastic—so friendly and attentive, with excellent communication throughout my stay. They made sure everything was perfect, and their local recommendations were spot on.If you’re looking for a cozy, nature-filled retreat, this VRBO is a must. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

The place was clean and bedding comfortable. The 2 bedroom listing was a bit deceiving, the 2nd bedroom also includes the kitchenette, dining area and no living or lounging space. The space was very tiny and cramped. The 1 bedroom was a nice size and the bathroom was in there. There was only 1 window and it was high on the wall. The outdoor space was very small. For me it felt a bit claustrophobic and not worth the price we paid.
