Asheville Mt Home Top-NEW Carbon Water Filter-3 mi to DT-Dogs-Firepit-River View
Looking for a place with the calm and quiet of a mountain cabin, yet 3.5 miles from downtown? Our house rests in a quiet mountain neighborhood on 1.3 acres of forest with views of the French Broad River and plenty of space to play and explore! Take a walk out the door down to the old barrel road next to the Om Sanctuary, from where you might spot the noon train. Upon your return, cool off with a drink on the balcony as deer, turkey vultures, and the occasional bear meander through the yard.
NOTE: This is the top floor only: 2 beds/2 bath. This is for guests who do not need the whole house. While you have only the top floor, you will still have the whole property to yourself; no one will utilize the downstairs.
You can rent both levels by searching for property #2069438.
The front yard and back yard are connected and mostly fenced (75%) with only the back portion open to the the mountain and wildlife preserve. There is a separate fully fenced area 40 ft x 13 ft for dogs with a gate at each end. The front yard is outfitted with an additional gate.
Each room has a queen bed and twin trundle bed. The living room has a sectional sofa with chaise and pullout sofa, and a 55-inch Roku TV. There is an AC unit and ceiling fan in the living room and in each bedroom. We also provide a pack-and-play, high chair, and toys.
The backyard balcony gives great views year-round of the wide open space we call the backyard, the river, wildlife, and the infamous fireflies of the Blue Ridge Mountains. In colder weather, warm your toes by the custom-built flagstone patio and fire pit, complete with a stone bench and seating. Prop your s'mores ingredients, hot cocoa, and other fire pit necessities on the table.
Just minutes to Richmond Hill right down the road, which offers hike and bike trails, and disc golf. Three miles to River Arts District and downtown, 4 miles to the breweries, 5.5 miles to Biltmore, and 9 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We live in a quiet residential neighborhood situated on the French Broad River. At the bottom of our road is the French Broad Outfitters and river access for a variety of activities.
Dogs are welcome for a one-time fee of $50 per dog. Puppies must be crated overnight and when you're not at home. No pets on furniture.
House was accommodating and good size. Beds were very comfortable. Bathrooms were clean. Lighting was not very good and house smelled like dog, which is understandable since dogs are allowed. Location was great for activites in the area, but neighborhood was not. Barking dog at the house next door.
kitchen , rooms , T.v. . laundry area was great. the only thing would add is a water hose , to have as a safety measure for the fire place vs. using a water pitcher. the outside area was very nice and truly loved the wildlife. I would not venture on the roads in the evening due to lack of street lights , and narrow roads . Nice little details in the kitchen that came in handy. Overall , a wonderful place to stay . Thank you.
Erin was so friendly and accommodating! We had plenty of space, privacy and comfort. We enjoyed the view of the river. The fire pit area is really nice - wish we could've used it, but the rain changed our plan. Thanks for everything- it's an excellent property for families!
The house is as described was very clean got there a little early my code didnt work so i called and they were able to fix over the phone technology at its best neighborhood and neighbors we very nice we saw a bear about a hundred feet from gate as we were heading out one morning but paid us no attention just took a sniff of one of the trash cans and headed into wood across the street from us did a little hiking and a little shopping enjoyable trip for all of us
We had a great visit to Asheville and loved our stay. The house and property were really nice andwas in a goos location for us Erin was very nice and responsive. It was also a very nice place for our dog. We loved sitting by the patio watching the river. I would definitely stay again.
Based on the description and pictures, we expected this was a "mountain retreat" with the calm and quiet of a mountain cabin high above the town. The neighborhood itself was quiet enough. Some may not be bothered by the view of the industrial area across the river instead of pristine mountains or that the freeway runs across right above that industrial area. Some in our party did not like the constant freeway drone. Otherwise the house itself was suitable for four adults. The heaters took a bit to get used to as there are no dial markings (except on one) to know how you are setting them. The kitchen was open and nicely stocked, everything worked. My sister commented the master had a fluffy pad on their bed making it very comfortable. The 2nd BR did not have that. The 2nd bedroom bed was comfy enough but did seem a bit small for queen. We did not watch tv so can't comment on that. BEWARE of the speedbumps coming into the neighborhood! Overall nice property and very convenient to RAD and town.
We always book a property that allows us to travel with our 8-yr old Irish Setter. She's basically a person in our family. I love that this property had a HUGE backyard, all fenced in, with plenty of room to run. The views of the French Broad River are indeed splendid. The reason for 4 vs 5 stars is that there is a large industrial storage plant that covers the entire far bank of the river. We were there in Nov, when the leaves are off the trees, so it was highly visible and took away from what would have been a really idyllic view. Otherwise, great location on a quiet hill top. The other reason for 4 vs 5 stars is that the kitchens were too sparsely provisioned if you plan to cook full meals. There is both an upstairs and downstairs full kitchen, and we had to try to find enough cookware and implements for a basic 5-person dinner. It may be just a personal preference of our family, but when we VRBO, we like to cook meals. I don't mind buying a throw-away roasting pan for a turkey, but everything else should be there (decent implements, decent pans of various sizes, non stick large fry pan, large serving bowls for side dishes, ovenproof casserole dishes, etc). Bakeware would be a bonus; there was none so we bought cake pans. Also more kitchen linens would have been good - there was only one kitchen towel. The house has a full downstairs and the stairway is a bit steep, which was not an issue for my family, but if you have someone who is infirm, aged or who cannot navigate stairs be advised. Parking was fine - there was plenty of room for our two cars. The location was great for access to Asheville - an short ride down to the river, over a small bridge and you are close to the main highway or river access roads.
