The Space:
Step inside and the hum of the island greets you, bird song, sea breeze, and that soft Waiheke quiet. The house opens across several levels, giving everyone their own space while keeping a sense of connection.

At the heart of the home is a generous, social kitchen designed for people who love to cook and gather. Stainless benches, open shelving, and good equipment make it easy to prepare something special. Meals can stretch out around the big table inside or move outdoors to the wood-fired pizza oven, where dinner is shared under the trees as the evening settles.

Two lounges, one for music and conversation, another for kids’ movies or a quiet read, make the home feel relaxed and flexible. Large glass doors draw in the light and open to the deck, while the Sonos sound system and Smart TV add comfort and connection without disturbing the calm.

The main bedroom is private and comfortable with a queen bed and windows that open to the trees. The second bedroom catches the morning light, with a comfortable double bed its a quiet spot for slow starts and afternoon naps. The bunk room is pure fun, four bunks lined up for stories and laughter that carry late into the night.

After the beach, rinse off sandy feet, open a bottle of something local, and settle into the rhythm of the deck.

Guest Access:
You’ll have full access to the property during your stay, a place to settle in, kick off your shoes, and make it your own.
Check-in is from 2:00pm, and check-out is by 10:30am.

If you’d like a slower start or an earlier arrival, we do offer early check-ins and late check-outs for an additional fee. Availability depends on whether the property has a back-to-back booking, but we’ll let you know closer to your stay if this can be arranged.

The Neighborhood:
Afio Mai is perfectly positioned just above Oneroa, giving you quick access to everything that makes Waiheke special while still feeling peaceful and private. Wander down to Oneroa Village for your morning coffee, browse the boutique shops, or grab a bite at one of the many cafés and restaurants along the main street.

For breakfast or lunch, Wai Kitchen is hard to beat with its water views and friendly barista touches, while Fenice is a local favourite from morning through dinner. The golden stretch of Oneroa Beach is only a few minutes away, perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, or an easy afternoon in the sun.

When it’s time for a long lunch, Mudbrick and Cable Bay vineyards are just over the hill, offering island wines, incredible food, and some of the best views on Waiheke.

This part of the island feels close to everything, yet calm enough that you can end each day with nothing but birdsong and sea air

Getting Around:
Getting around from Afio Mai is simple and relaxed. The Matiatia passenger ferry terminal is just a few minutes away, making arrivals easy and ideal for day trips back to the city. Oneroa Village is within walking distance, so you can head out for coffee, dinner, or a swim at the beach without needing the car.

If you’re exploring further, the nearest bus stop is only a 3–4 minute walk from the house, with regular routes connecting you to beaches, vineyards, and local attractions across the island. Services run throughout the day and make getting around Waiheke easy without a car. Taxis and e-bikes are also available, and there’s off-street parking for two vehicles if you’re driving.

On Saturdays, don’t miss the Ostend Market, open 8:00 am to 1:00 pm at Belgium Street, Ostend. It’s a lively local favourite for fresh produce, coffee, handmade goods, and live music, the perfect way to spend a relaxed morning among locals.

Waiheke’s winding roads and sea views make every trip part of the experience, take your time, roll down the windows, and enjoy the island at your own pace
