Tui Cottage is designed for uncomplicated island living, surrounded by mature native trees and birdsong. Wide decks wrap the cottage, creating outdoor spaces for lounging, dining, and relaxed evenings by the BBQ. The setting feels quiet and private, with greenery in every direction.
Inside, the cottage is light and comfortable, with large windows bringing in natural light and views of the surrounding bush. The open plan living and kitchen area is practical and well set up for casual meals and relaxed days between beach visits. An outdoor fish preparation bench makes it easy to enjoy fresh seafood after a day out.
Sleeping is arranged across two separate buildings, offering privacy and flexibility. The main cottage has been refreshed and features a super king bed and its own deck, a calm spot for morning coffee surrounded by bush. A short walk through the garden leads to the separate sleepout, which includes a queen bed and its own shower and toilet, making it ideal for a second couple, friends, or older children.
The property is just a short drive or an easy walk to Onetangi Beach, where you will find a long stretch of white sand, calm swimming, beachfront dining, a playground, takeaway options, a liquor store, and a petrol station.
Tui Cottage is pet friendly on request, with a bond applying. The layout and setting work well for guests wanting privacy, outdoor space, and a relaxed base close to the beach.

Wonderful cottage - perfect base on the island for my son and me. Well equipped and very clean. I had to chase up arrival instructions (there was no reply to my message on the Vrbo app), but think they had been sent and I just hadnât received them. I appreciated the personal welcome email and my query about heating was answered promptly (maybe instructions on how to adjust the aircon/heating could be added to the cottage information?) Also would be good to point out the nearby path down to Onetangi Beach (we only came across this by accident). Thanks for a great stay! :)
An absolutely stunning place a ten minute walk from the beach and amenities. The cottage itself is secluded, and surrounded by the most lush trees and plant life, making it feel like your own private idyll. The facilities are superb, with laundry, cleaning facilities and everything you could possibly need for preparing meals (including a very generously sized gas barbecue!). There's also a outside wash down spot for those sandy feet after a day on the beach. The beds are comfortable, and the whole place is very well appointed and finished to a very high standard. On arrival, the cottage was cleaned to a very high standard and we had everything we needed right off the bat thanks to the pre-arrival information pack.A top tip for anyone hoping to use the Oven (and this isn't a criticism, just information for future holiday makers), you'll need to set the time on the oven before it does anything.Overall I'd have no hesitation in recommending this cottage to a couple or small family looking for a long weekend away. It represents fantastic value for money and it's well worth it.
