Such a lovely and quiet place. Rooms clean & modern, wildlife abundant & close to the local pub! Price for the night is much more reasonable than expected for the type of property (youâd expect something less modern for the price). We loved it here, we didnât use any services just stayed the night but had we been staying longer I would have.
Great setting, nice and quiet, rooms small but clean and tidy, beds hard and uncomfortable, common area large, but felt unkept, not much variety on breakfast menu, some cereal out of date, would be nice to have a tv or games table in common area, not much to do
The host Sarah was more than accommodating. We stayed in a lovely cabin with views of the surrounds, kangaroos grazing as the sun started to leave us. Everything in the way of breakfast was provided for us to help ourselves. Main kitchen well stocked and there was also a huge spa. It was lovely and relaxing and exceptionally quiet just as we liked after a long drive. Thank you very much Sarah, the cabin was cozy and comfortable and just what we were looking for. Recommend a stay out here for sure, especially take a few friends and enjoy some time around the fire pit of an evening and relax
As this is budget accommodation what you get for the price is reasonable, we enjoyed our stay and would consider staying there again, but don't expect anything flash based on the "Retreat & Day Spa" name.
We stayed in a room that was attached to the common lounge and kitchen. This wasn't something we were expecting as the room description didn't mention it. It has its pros and cons. Pro is you are close to kitchen for coffee and any cooking you want to do. Con is that others use the lounge area which is right outside your door, and they can be very noisy.
The location was great, halfway between Heathcote and Bendigo.
Some small things that could be improved
1. the kitchen tea towels were not absorbant and were not changed for the 3 days we were there
2. the kitchen fridge has the door on backward for the space, switching this to open the other way would make a HUGE difference it the ability to use it
3. brecky options were very basic. Bread for toast, butter and small amount of strawberry jam. no other spreads available. Strawberry jam ran out and was never replaced. 2 cereal options which were very basic.
4. spa tub was basically not useable. The water was too low (at least 10 cm below the minimum mark), and the temperature was too cold. I am guessing it was set at 39-40 degrees, whereas most spa's start at 42-44 degrees.
5. rooms only came with 1 towel each and we had to ask for more towels to use with the spa. Rooms should come with 2 each to cater for this without asking.
I arrived late about 6.25pm, and had been told my room was number 1 off the kitchen/lounge area, and to make myself at home. I went out to a meeting and got back about 9.30pm. My room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was continental and serve yourself. This was disappointing - I had breakfast of toast and honey which was all I could find. I do not eat wheeties!
I left the property at 9.45am, and did not see or speak with anyone at all. I would not go back again.
One of the best places we have stayed ever the Host was fantastic the facilities were first class. We loved the quite location and the surroundings were so peaceful. Cant wait to stay there again.
Room was clean & had most of what i needed, except milk in the fridge for my morning & night coffee.
Area around the shed accomodation could be improved/weeded....& if you know your having a visitor into one of the stand alone metal accomodation rooms, you could at least sweep off all the cob webs from around the entrance door.
