A Little Gem

I truly enjoyed my stay at the Pelican. It is kind of hidden and quiet. The rooms are not fitted with a fridge or kettle but there was one right outside our room and a full kitchen w/fridge for community use. Kitchen area was always clean. The WiFi was surprisingly fast. The hand held shower head was a bit of a hassle and we had a bit of a "moment" with the cleaner using our adapter to charge his mobile phone...inside our room. We laughed it off and I made sure the adapters were well tucked away just in case. The hotel is also in a great location. About 15-20 mins walk to the beach and one one of the main junctions so there's no need to pay for a town trip (private taxi) to get there unless you're traveling from with lots of bags. An 8-8 (shared taxi) will drop you off right in front of the hotel for 7-8 dalasis. (The price depends on the current price of fuel.) Just ask to go to Bakau from Traffic Light. Unfortunately if you are white or otherwise presumed to be a tourist, drivers may refuse to take you for the local price. Don't be discouraged though because a willing driver will come along.

Hotel ligt aan een doorgaande geasfalteerde weg die richting Bakau gaat. Hotel zelf ligt niet dichtbij het strand. Maar taxi is niet duur.

EnsinnĂ€kin oven lukko ei toiminut, se vaihdettiin 2x uuteen lukkoon ennenkuin toimi ( lukkorunko ja kahva aina vaihdettiin mutta ei ovenkarmis olevaa vastakappaletta) nĂ€in elettiin ensimmĂ€inen viikko lukko reistaillen..yhden kerran siivooja oli unohtunut lukita oven. SĂ€ngyn patjan pÀÀllys riekaleine siitĂ€ roikkui iso kankaanpala jalkapÀÀdyssĂ€ ja osui ensimmĂ€isenĂ€ silmÀÀn kun astui ovesta sisÀÀn. Molemmat moskitoverhot rikki ja nekin vaihdettiin vasta neljĂ€ntenĂ€ pĂ€ivĂ€nĂ€, joka ilta sprayattiin koko huone ennen nukkumaan menoa mutta kuitenkin niitĂ€ inisijöitĂ€ oli 2-4 joka aamu mh/wc -》tuloksena minulla on noin 50 puremaa(kĂ€ytin kyllĂ€ offia) joista osa valitettavasti tulehtui niin pahaksi jotta jouduin hakemaan antibiootti kuurin, vahvat antihistamiinit ja rasvat 50e. Yövartijat/tai mitĂ€ lie nuoria poikia nukkui 4-5 yönĂ€ asiakkaille tarkoitetussa oleskelutilassa KĂ€yn usein öisin tupakalla niin kiva ensimmĂ€isellĂ€ kerralla kun menin yöpuvussa ulos niin siinĂ€ nukkuu vieras mies/poika Valtiin asiasta 3x. Vasta kolmannen valituksen jĂ€lkeen loppui yövieraat sohvalta. YhtenĂ€ yönĂ€ nukkujat vaihtui.. Pihassa oli autoille pysĂ€köintipaikka ja portti pidettiin kiinni Ohjeeksi saimme ettĂ€ tööttÀÀ niin avaamme. Mutta valitettavasti tĂ€mĂ€kÀÀn ei aina toiminut varsinkin iltaisin.. muutaman kerran myös aamulla lĂ€htiessĂ€ avasimme itse portin. Työn tekijĂ€t ok, muutaman englannin taito heikko tai eivĂ€t osanneet lainkaan. Ainut oikein positiivinen asia oli siisteys.
