This stay was deeply disappointing and stressful, largely due to the ownerâs handling of multiple serious issues. We arrived to a unit that had not been cleaned after prior guests, forcing us to clean the property ourselves during peak holiday week with no alternative lodging available.The heating was inadequate for winter conditions. One unit produced little to no heat, and the secondary unit could not maintain safe indoor temperatures. Indoor temps dropped to the lowâmid 50s overnight while outside temperatures were below zero. We slept fully layered, blocked drafts with towels, and I left at 3 a.m. to buy firewood out of concern for my familyâs safety.Backdoor lock did not work. Looking at prior reviews, it appears this had been a concern previously that was still never addressed. Basic supplies for the fireplace, including fire starters, were missing, requiring another trip out in severe weather. When these concerns were raised, the ownerâs responses became defensive and escalating, rather than focused on resolution.We ultimately left early due to safety concerns. The owner agreed in writing to refund the final night, then later reversed that decision, offering shifting explanations after checkout.The property may have potential, but winter readiness, cleanliness standards, and professional, good-faith communication from the owner need major improvement. I would not recommend this property for cold-weather stays or for families expecting reliable support.
