Beech Mountain is the perfect getaway, regardless of the season, and Slopes and Spokes is the best place to experience it! This stunning ski suite is located in Pinnacle Inn Resort, the highest resort in the highest town in the eastern United States. Complete with all the amenities for a weekend or longer, this luxurious suite has been completely remodeled and features vintage snow sports equipment decor with a rustic, romantic, farmhouse feel, comfortable seating and bedding (including an electric blanket), a fully stocked kitchen with new appliances, cookware and dishware, books, high speed internet access, a landline telephone, built-in USB charger with 4 ports, and a washer and dryer located right inside the condo. Small toiletries, cider and cocoa mix, local items and the makings of sâmores are included in a complimentary welcome bag provided by the owners.
One of the best features is a working wood-burning fireplace. While not guaranteed, the owners try to keep a stock of firewood handy. If previous guests have depleted the supply, you can pick up some at Fredâs Mercantile, and let us tell you, you need to go there at least once while youâre on the mountain anyway. Try their breakfast! A towel warmer, a separate forced air heater in the bathroom and a boot dryer/warmer for two sets of boots ensure you will be warm and dry in no time after a day of fun in the snow. Speaking of the bathroom, no luxury bathroom is complete without a bidet, and we have one, along with a bathtub/shower combination, and we supply a double set of bath towels and washcloths.
Whether you want to explore the area or spend all your time indoors, Slopes and Spokes is ideally located on the first floor and near parking. Relax in front of the wood-burning fireplace or on the deck outfitted with two bentwood style rockers and a small table where you are almost guaranteed to see deer and other wildlife grazing on the lawn as Pinnacle Inn is inside the wildlife reserve. Pinnacle Inn also has an All Seasons Center with a large, heated pool, two saunas, hot tub, game room, vending machines, workout facility and large dressing rooms and bathrooms. Come with a group and retreat back to your individual condos for quiet time as needed.
Walking to town or to iconic locations such as Fredâs is easy or take a short drive to Banner Elk and Sugar Mountain if you prefer the slopes, restaurants and shopping there. With concerts and events in the summer and an average summer temperature in the low 70âs, the âslow seasonâ is actually a great time to visit. And, donât forget the Woolly Worm Festival, Land of Oz and spectacular fall foliage in September and October!
As this condo is also the ownersâ personal retreat, it is true to the original short term rental concept of staying in someoneâs home. When you stay at Slopes and Spokes, you are our guest, and we want to make the stay comfortable and memorable. Please take the time to give us feedback in our guestbook. We read those every time we come up and have made changes based on what we read!
PLEASE NOTE: Pinnacle Inn Resort prohibits guests from bringing pets, so while we love them, we can only accommodate service animals.
Last minute booking for July 4th weekend. Booked through Vrbo. Reasonable price. Great location. Very compact chalet, but efficient layout. Very clean. Didnât care for the bed âcubicle.â Difficult for person sleeping on the inside (wall) to get out once youâre in bed. Also, rather thin walls. Could hear the people snoring in the next unit, and people walking in unit above. Got to enjoy fireworks shows over both Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain just down the hill. Would gladly stay again.
The ladies at check are great, very helpful. The room was clean, well stocked and super cute and cozy. Perfect for a couple. Great location. We went for a concert and there was a shuttle pick-up right at the property. The nearby pizza place was great. All around perfect!
It was a great weekend there lots of snow. The place was in a great location to the sledding hill and the pizza place. It was a very cosy studio with a lot of charm.
I really do not enjoy giving bad reviews but our stay at this condo was not pleasant. First, when we arrived, we tried to connect to the wifi and the internet did not work. We were able to connect to the network but there was no internet connection. The TV was not connected to the internet either which means we could not watch anything on the TV. The internet would not work on our phone either because the wifi was not working and you are in the mountains. The cellular data connection is poor everywhere in the area. Your only hope of any decent internet was the wifi and it was broken. The hosts did not know how to help with the issue either. Second, the walls are very thin. We had a family staying above us and you can hear their every foot step. It made sleeping difficult. Third, the bed is small if you sleep with a partner. If you plan on staying in this room by yourself then this problem is not as big. If you do not like traveling alone, I would not recommend their sleeping set up. It is not comfortable. Fourth, the window across from the bed looks into the parking lot. When you sleep at night, the car light really shined through that window making it tougher to sleep. Finally, the pool and hot tub and such are nice in theory if the condo complex is not busy. If it is a busy weekend the pool gets very crowded. We tried to take our 3 year old to the pool but there were at least 12 families there on a Saturday evening. Thatâs not as fun when it is super crowded.
