This was our second stay at this wonderful home and it likely wonât be our last! The house is situated perfectly for a wonderful weekend away in the whites! Close by to hiking trails, breweries, and great restaurants, and in a very quiet neighborhood! The house was clean and comfortable and all we could have asked for!
We really enjoyed the layout of the house with the open concept for multiple floors. The location was great with hiking options, Diana's Bath and Echo Lake, as well as all that North Conway has to offer. The wood stove was super cozy but it would have been nice to have been provided a bit of wood as part of the rental. With the home being situated within a hill, the yard is not really usable. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.
The house was cold, the heater didnât work until the last day and tvs never work. The was no gas on the grill both tanks empty. The grill was left very dirty and clean it to cook to find out the was no gas to cook
The house was exactly what we needed for a white mountain vacation for our kids and dogs. However, the Vacasa management was awful! The previous renters left trash on the patio. I had multiple text communications with Vacasa saying they were coming to clean it up, but never came. As a result, we could not use the outside area and BEARS were on the patio in the trash. Huge safety issue for us.
Also, the listing states there are 2 single beds and two double beds in second bedroom. This is not accurate. The second double is up in the loft/balcony area and is a futon. It is pretty loud if that person wants to sleep.
With six in our family, room is always hard to find. We had several sleeping options and had room to spread out. This was a great location to hikes, overlooks, trails, and waterfalls. 15-20 mins from plenty of stores, shops, restaurants, and bakeries. Would definitely stay here again!
The home is lovely! Great quiet location just a short drive away from many of the local attractions.
The no A/C was not a problem at all but we really didn't have any of the hot summer days while we were out there.
A few things were a bit annoying, such as a broken casement windows that you couldn't close in one of the bedrooms; the dishwasher is old and the soap dispenser thing doesn't work properly but the worst is when the dishwasher runs, all the hot and dirty overflow comes up the kitchen sink a few times... something is wacky with the plumbing.
The entry code is super long and was a bit inconvenient to have to punch 9 numbers everytime we came back to the house.
Other than these little things, we had a great stay!
The home was as shown. We had a great stay. Our children loved the house and the unique lay out. Itâs in a great area locally, as well as close to popular surrounding towns. Felt like you were in your own home. Would stay again in a heart beat.
The house itself is cute - great location but it was infested with large black ants, had an awful cat urine smell in the bedroom as well as dirty linens on the bed. The pillows smelled awful and the quilt on the bed in the main bedroom has definitely not been washed in a very long time. The bedding was so uncleanly and grotesque that we went out and spent our own money on new bedding. The smell of moth balls was so strong it gave us a headache. The old throw pillows smelled like dust. The main TV not only didnât work but the remotes were missing batteries - we had to borrow some from the other remotes, come to find out those were missing batteries as well .. even after putting in new batteries the TV still did not work.
We were happy to be able to have our pup with us but there was absolutely NO yard or place to take your pup out, we ended up just taking her across the street in the woods to do her business since that was the only place. NO ac caused the smell of pet urine from past guests to linger. I could go on and on about all that was wrong with this place but the location and our determination to make our trip worth while didnât let this place get us down. Highly recommend giving this place a HEAVY DUTY deep clean, as well as het an exterminator out for the infestation of ants, as well as replace all the old bedding and pillows
Rented Cow Hill âHavenâ in July 2022 for my family of 4 adults and a puppy. The first thing I noticed upon arrival was a musty smell that we attributed to the house being unoccupied and the hot weather. We opened some windows and left for dinner.
Came back after dinner and the house still had a mildew smell. As we were getting ready for bed, we noticed dozens of insects on the walls of the living room and bedrooms near and around the lights.
We immediately called the rental agency, VACASA , and sent them pictures of the bugs. The situation worsened as the number of bugs kept increasing as we spoke with the agency. In our opinion, the situation was unacceptable and the house was not habitable. VACASA did not have another property available near us and recommended we go to a motel.
Now, close to midnight, we left the premises and were lucky to find lodging for 4 adults and a puppy.
The next day VACASA called and, after reviewing the photos, promptly issued a refund for their portion of the cost for the rental property. VRBO has not yet issue me a refund for the remaining amount. Iâm not sure why the delay since everyone is in agreement the situation was unacceptable.
VRBO said we should have contacted them but we had already called VACASA who recommended finding a motel. It was close to midnight and we were basically stranded and looking for lodging.
Neither VACASA nor VRBO would reimburse us any portion of our cost for the first night stay at our new lodgings even though they left us stranded without lodging.
As for VRBO, I am not happy with their customer service team, over 1 month later and still no refund.
VACASA should inspect their properties carefully, air them out for incoming guests and physically check that all is well. As far as I could tell they did not even remove this house from the rental schedule.
We were fortunate to find the Hilton Home 2 suites hotel in North Conway. It was clean, air-conditioned, insect-free, odor-free, dog friendly and provided breakfast. The staff was great, extremely accommodating, and the cost was only slightly higher than the VRBO rental, well worth it.
Unfortunately we had a terrible stay at this property & will never stay again. We were made to check in late (after 6pm) as the property was still being cleaned. Upon arrival we found why they took the extra 2+ hours to 'clean' it: the home was entirely full of tiny black flies - I'm talking, flies on every surface. Hundreds of them on beds, pillows, showers, corners/walls - it was uninhabitable. VRBO offered no assistance, and only a very meagre refund for being given a literal fly-infested home. Probably a great property to stay at in the wintertime when the home is in season and used for ski stays, but clearly it should not ever / has not been used for summertime stays...
This was a wonderful getaway for my husband and I, my parents, and my dog. Check-in was very easy and straightforward and the house was extremely clean and provided a great place to call home for the weekend. It was a beautiful location and easy to get to the kancamagus and North Conway full of great views, shopping and food/drink! Would love to make this an annual trip!
Overall impression: The house presents as "cheap" and not well-kept. It is a poor value for the price.
Specific issues:
1) Paint peeling on the exterior; the outside stairs are not painted at all. By contrast the identical house next door has just been painted and looks great.
2) Inside various window sills and doorways need paint.
3) There is insufficient light in the bedrooms; just two small table lamps, no overhead lights and no floor lamps.
4) In the MBR there is a night stand and lamp only on one side of the bed.
5) There is no house manual, as is customary in rentals. The TV was very difficult to figure out (three controllers).
6) There is one thermostat that controls heat on both floors, a poor set up especially because when the BR doors are closed there is no feedback to the thermostat.
7) The large glass over the DR table is filthy.
8) There is stained grout in the Master Bathroom.
9) The pre-arrival instruction say there is a house next door with the number 1, which some guests have gone to mistakenly. There is no such number. The "105" address for subject property is hard to see from the street.
Great location. Accommodations is what I was expecting from the online pics. Couch upstairs needs a refresh. The mattress in the bedroom with four beds need to be updated and one less bed would be preferable. Light switches should be marked since there are so many and ones that I turned on and nothing happened. Cooking kitchen utensils could be added to.
These are merely suggestions that would make a great place better. Loved the openness of the first floor and deck area.
We had never stayed at this property before usually we stay in Madison but we couldn't find anything in Madison. We just happened to see this one and it was alot cheaper per night then what we are used too paying so we thought we would give it a shot.
My children loved it. I had a heart attack every time my toddler wasn't in my sight because of the upstairs bannisters/railing. The whole house has the open floor concept. Which isn't ideal for children. I did see the virtual tour but my brain did not catch the open walls between the floors.. The website didn't say this property does not have AC (an amenity we are used too when staying anywhere) so the property was extremely muggy when we checked in and had these little flies that bit you.
We opened the windows on the shady part of the property and put the fans in the windows. The property supplied a dehumidifier as well that I had to empty frequently.
The windows were really hard to close after opening. They are the windows that have a turn bar.
The little bugs didn't look like fleas because they could fly. Otherwise I would have thought they were fleas.
The patio is a comfortable size for a family of 5. The grill cooks really quickly. I would like to note there were alot of thick spider webs going from the house to patio furniture. I know it's the outdoors but there was so much like too the point - I cooked on the grill and we ate inside the switering house.
I could not find the grilling utensils or cooking utensils in the house so I ended up driving to Walmart (30 mins away) to purchase them.
The washer and dryer work well. The dryer drys really fast (seriously).
We truly enjoyed the visit - I have been told most houses do not have ac (we must have been spoiled...) I do look forward to staying here in the future but not with a toddler. I hope I can post pictures so others don't think I'm over exaggerating.
This is a nice property and was very clean and spacious. It's centrally located to many of the local attractions....minutes away from Conway, Storyland, Kanc Highway and not far from Mt Washington. Many hiking trails just a short drive away.
Wonderful home and location. Easy access to hike trails, resorts, and North Conway. Great privacy and a lot of amenities which made it a very convenient stay, and I would consider returning to this home as very cozy. Could improve on cleanliness (chandelier had cobwebs, light fixtures with dust, wood stove trash not emptied, and grills not cleaned), but rooms, bedding, towels, dishware all well maintained.
