This was the first time we stayed in a Tru hotel. The staff was friendly and the facility was fairly clean. However, we will probably be the last time. The few dollars saved over the next level facility was not worth the cuts in the amenities and room size.

We decided to try Tru because of the Hilton name, it's obviously bottom of the list for them. Upon walking in, it was confusing where the front desk was, a lot of clutter. The room, was small, the pillows were horrible and the mattress was hard and uncomfortable. There was no space big enough to place your luggage. No coffee maker in the room, and breakfast was nothing special. There were no muffins or pastries. We usually stay at Holiday Inn, Tru was priced about the same, we thought we'd try something different, there was no comparison. Very doubtful we will ever choose Tru again.

A great location. Super friendly staff not just at check in. A welcoming lounge area, clean rooms and quiet! Lounge has 24 hr beverage station and huge variety of snacks for sale. Also games and pool table. Very convenient to Tamarack and New River Gorge attractions. Breakfast was well stocked and easily accessed even when the hotel was full. Highly recommend.

Front desk staff in stained Tru logo hoodie was efficient but less than friendly. Overall, the hotel seems in good repair and is convenient to the highway and dining. Pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and clean /smell/ of our room. We travel with a dog and often are given rooms that are nearly intolerable with animal odor. Tru being a bare-bones hotel chain, there is no microwave or coffee maker in the room, just a mini fridge. The TV was easy to operate and channel/app availability was fine. The a/c unit is fully functional and its fan does a good job masking the highway noise. Curtains also do a good job with light blocking. Small irritations are non-functional nightlights in the bathroom because the outlets are wired to the light switch, and unnecessary ambient light from LEDs in fixtures in the room and flashing light from the smoke detector. Breakfast was standard 2.5-star fare: eggs, bacon, pancakes, toast, coffee, etc. The stay overall would have been a 4/5 but for the cave troll elsewhere in the hotel /running/ up and down the corridor on an upper floor for at least an hour between 1-2 a.m. That ‘management’ can’t or won’t curb this kind of guest is baffling. I’d stay here again if ever in Beckley again and cross my fingers for better behaved guests.
