Espectacular Private Villa with Unbeatable Views
A beautiful private and exclusive estate nestled on the slopes of an ancient and inactive volcano on Santa Cruz Island, at almost 400m above sea level. It is an area with evergreen vegetation and a cooler climate than that of the lower part of the island. The area is inhabited by turtles, finches, owls and many other typical Galapagos animals that frequent this 35000 sq m property in their routine pilgrimages. We have walking trails inside the property with fruit trees like oranges, limes and tangerine.
Santa Cruz, like almost all the islands of the Archipelago, is of volcanic origin and the presence of rocks and lava formations is evident from all sides. The land of this property is no exception, as well as much of the construction of the house takes lava rocks as a distinctive element of its decoration as well as handcrafted teak.
The area where the property is located is one kilometer from the vicinity of the protected area of the Galapagos National Park and it is surrounded by small coffee plantations and livestock farms.
The property faces south and through its glass walls, from practically all of its living, dining and bedroom areas enjoys a nearly 180 degree view of the Galapagos blue sea. The property faces Santa Fe Island. Also looking to the left, we will see the Plaza Islands and also the Gordon Rocks, famous for their underwater landscapes.
The property consists of a private land of 35,000 squared meters in the upper area of Santa Cruz. The villa is 120 squared meters. The villa enjoys an outdoor living area of 120 squared meters with a pergola that extends the options to enjoy the view to the sea.
Additionally the terrain is crossed by paved trails surrounded by Scalessia and fruits (oranges, lemon and tangerine) trees that you may harvest with your own hands to enjoy fresh fruits with amazing views.
Includes:
- Bath Robes - Toiletries - Water
Why so cheap?
This is my holiday home and maintenance costs are high. I am just happy to have my costs covered every month and a little extra that is invested back into the property. I am pretty sure there is not a better option in the islands that gives you the most value for your money :) you will love this "not-so-small" piece of paradise.
FAQ
How far from Puerto Ayora? It is about a 15 minute drive.
How do we get from the villa to town? We have a satellite phone for you to use with useful numbers to call, such as taxis, housekeeper and myself (I live in continental Ecuador but I am always a phone call away in case you need anything)
Where's the closest beach? Its just 9km (Garrapatero Beach) where you may rent kayaks, SUPs, snorkel, etc.
Why should we stay here and not in town? It's just a matter of preferences. When I go to GalĂĄpagos I prefer nature, privacy and calmness. These three things are hard to find in town with too many restaurants, cars, bars and tourists. Sometimes we cook at the villa and others we just go down to town and come up to relax and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee.
Would you please recommend what to do in the GalĂĄpagos and Mainland Ecuador? I would love to. Besides this villa, I own Hacienda La Danesa and a tailor made travel agency. I know the best spots in Ecuador and I will be happy to design your trip to Ecuador within your budget :)
I don't want to cook or worry about meals, can we hire a cook? Yes! We can have an amazing cook for you when you're not on excursions. We can discuss this privately.
Absolutely beautiful house and property! It's a bit out of the way from town, which is nice if you are looking for a relaxing getaway (but it does require pre-arranging taxi rides with drivers who know the house location!)
This property is absolutely stunning! My husband and I went to the Galapagos for a quiet, peaceful wildlife retreat and this property did not disappoint. The house is well equipped, including a cold/hot water dispenser and laundry facilities. There are giant tortoises walking around on the huge, secluded, private property. There are many well maintained pathways to walk on and explore. We highly recommend the chef service as well. Ingrid was prompt, courteous and professional and served a variety of delicious dishes. Yvonne was an amazing host who helped us with our entire trip including suggestions for the mainland Ecuador.Very, very happy with this experience.
we loved staying at our wonderful villa
enjoyed the outings everyday to come back to our view from the highlands , we named all the giant tortoises on the property and it was a daily routine to see where they each were and had traveled during the day and night . Kebler was lovely and so helpful along with our driver /taxi Wilson who was very helpful. One thing that would have been handy was to have stronger wifi and cell service as we felt at times not able to communicate with our driver - getting on Whats APP helped but even with the lack of service it was a difficult - non the less made things adventurous . We look forward to returning one day soon . The Cornish Family from Canada
This is the most amazing place to stay in Santa Cruz! While the town is a bit busy (cafes, boat departures, etc) when you arrive at Casa Roca all you hear is birds chirping and a breeze blowing through the trees. We enjoyed daily walks, yoga while watching the sun rise, reading in the hammocks, making lemonade from the fruit on the property, and a glass of wine while cooking dinner and watching the sun set. It is a very short drive from the main downtown but you need to be thoughtful in your planning as most cabs will not know how to get to the home (Kleeber who manages the home will assist with that and Niels also left the number of another taxi service). We used a tour group which easily coordinated with Niels. Communication regarding the home, information about Galapagos, and everything else was incredible. We are so grateful we spent a few days here and thankful to Niels and his team for welcoming us to Galapagos and sharing this beautiful place with us.
The house is amazing and the view is incredible! The amenites are well taken care of and Niels, the owner, puts you in contact with a great travel agent that can arrange all your trips around the islands. The only downsides are that Wifi doesn't always work (like in most of the Galapagos) and that the house is at a 25-30 min drive from Puerto Ayora and restaurants. I would definitely recommend it!
Ultra-private luxury home with spectacular views and amazing wildlife
This home is absolutely amazing. The views, especially at sunrise, are breathtaking. Neils, Klever, and Angel were extremely responsive and helpful with everything we needed before and throughout our stay. We did not want to leave and would return without hesitation. Thank you, Neils, Klever, and Angel for the wonderful hospitality.
Kind Regards,

p.s. We highly recommend Lo&Lo for lunch and Garrapata for dinner for fresh fish and excellent service.
This home is incredibly special and it is so generous of Niels to share it. Absolutley stunning property, lovely views, attention to detail. Go here for a unique experience and to get away from it all. We spent one day just enjoying the view and going for walks, it was the best place for seeing tortoises on our whole trip! If you want convenience to town and to be in the mix, don't stay here. The driver/ caretaker is very kind and will take you anywhere you'd like, whenever. We went scuba diving in Puerto Ayora and it was a quick ride in the morning. No, he does not speak much English, but you aren't in an English- speaking country.
We can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was in the Casa de Roca. The home and the property are magical. It was a highlight of our time in the Galapagos. We so enjoyed the quiet, serene space. Neils and Klever were great to work with. Highly recommend it! Thank you Neils for offering us this amazing opportunity! Tammy and Sean
We rented this place for the four of us to stay while vacationing in the Galapagos. the place as beautiful, clean and well appointed. The housekeeper was very helpful, although he does not speak any English so some Spanish is helpful. He also has a vehicle to transport you and your luggage although it is on its last legs so that could pose an issue.
