This property while close to the train station, it is located in an unsafe area. It needs updating, beds are uncomfortable , comforter was not big enough, our room had moths in it.
The room allocated was very small for a double room with no window or air conditioning in either the bedroom or the bath room. leading to a very uncomfortable night.
Room was reasonably clean and the toilet and bathroom were in very good condition. Would not use this hotel again.
When we realized we didn’t have heat in our room we went to the front desk to notify them twice over our three day stay and we were never able to get get the issue resolved.
Fed up with getting a room with no windows. Even though told I don’t like closed spaces they still won’t alter the room.
It’s not easy to breath in the room and difficult to sleep.
You don’t know if it’s daylight. You don’t know what the weather is like.
It’s very poor service.
Stay was terrible first scammed by hotel.com as i was charged for 2 double bed to 4 single beds when all rooms are with single beds and inwas charged for this change then the smell at the hotel made all of us so sick dirty cups and spoon in room and boans of dead animals at my window the elevator was a nightmare never comes opens the door 2 to 3 times and even skips the floor
I stayed at the Britannia for 3 nights. It is really convenient for rail and bus connections. Excellent restaurants all in short walking distance.
Staff and facilities perfect.
A great choice for travellers not using a car.
Check in was simple, but definitely an issue with the area near the entrance with drunk and homeless people seeking shelter
The room was on 7th floor and spacious, tea and coffee and a small shower room
The bed looked massive, those was two beds locked together which when in the bed you could clearly feel the join but other than that it was comfortable
Slept badly due to noise from street (even on 7th floor) and noise from others nearby on same floor
Was disappointed to find restaurant was closed so could not have breakfast at hotel which then meant I had to check out sooner to be able to go find somewhere to eat

The hotel is next to the high street which is great. It did the job for me.
The only thing going for this hotel was location. Bed was lumpy and springs poking out into your back all night, zero sleep, hotel was dirty no towels in room and overall a very unloved and run down hotel.
After reading some reviews I was apprehensive booking this hotel however I was pleasantly surprised. Hotel was clean, very central and convenient for anything in the city centre. From my experience (2 nights stayed) I think it’s a perfect crash pad sort of hotel. The alleyway the hotel entrance opens to has seen better days and has some questionable residents and the front desk staff weren’t particular warm and friendly but overall, a good value hotel.
it was a short walk from new street train station birmingham shops macdonald s nearby the place was cool an clean kempt tidy the bathroom was absolutly immaculate with toiletries an thier was akettle in room with tea milk an coffee.very friendly vibe lifts an perfect for me old skool.
