Cottages on serenity lake
Posted Apr. 4, 2024 on HomeAwayThis location was beautiful and peaceful. It was a great weekend get away. Pricing is really good as well. My friend and I were able to go for a nice 2 mile walk and got to see wildlife along the way.

Posted Oct. 10, 2023 on HomeAwayGreat place. Very quiet and liked the security gate at the entrance. The cottage is cozy and comfortable . Enjoyed sitting out by the lake and being greeted by the ducks!

Peaceful
Posted Oct. 5, 2023 on HomeAwayWe had a wonderful time. We enjoyed the private setting and the distance between the cabins. Hopefully our dogs we not to loud when we are out. Easy to get to ATV trails. If we come back ATV riding again to the area we would definitely stay here again.

Extensive Rules & Procedures
Posted Aug. 23, 2023 on HomeAwayThe good: location close to ATV trails and nice view of the lake.
The frustrating: extensive rules. Upon booking, received communication to pay pet fees outside of VRBO. Also stumbled upon a large list of pet restrictions on their website, all associated with additional fees if they weren’t followed. Two days before check in, received another long email with additional restrictions and charges. Beware you will incur additional charges if you don’t lock the gate, put the trash or linens in the correct place, or splash water out of the hot tub.
All of the restrictions and fear of being charged left us on edge and not able to enjoy our stay.

Tera,
We are glad you enjoyed the view of Serenity Lake.
Regarding the pet fees, we offered so you can save from additional VRBO fees. So, that was done as a courtesy FOR YOU!
Regarding the pet restrictions, we do not allow pets on permanent carpets, linen or on furniture. This is to protect guests w/allergies. In Pheasant Cottage, there's only one room with carpet, so that would have been a minimal issue, These are basic restrictions for having pets.
Regarding the last-minute instructions, we send them a day prior to your visit and there are reminders as common damages/clean-up issues. Again, this is to help you so you don't get charged for anything.
Our front gate stays locked for privacy to our guests.
We also have up to 3,000 guests each year so we require our guests to recycle and we offer a recyclable can in & outside and we pick the trash & recyclables up daily to make it easy for our guests.
Regarding the linens, many guests like to remake their beds so we ask our guests to remove the pillow cases & sheets in the beds they use, at the end of their stay, for two reasons. First, it lets us know which beds were used & need to be changed and, second, it saves time for the house keepers which results in us being able to charge less for your rentals fees. Tall Pines Lodge, sleeps 35 guests so you can imagine how much time it takes to change that many beds in addition to preparing and cleaning a 5-bedroom home.
If you disregard these rules, it can result in extra cleaning fees or a fee for having to secure the gate (leaving it open (especially repeatedly!) is disrespectful for everyone else!).
I understand that just prior to your stay, you realized that pets were not allowed on the linen & you tried to cancel your reservation because you insisted on your pets sleeping w/you. I spoke with your husband & said you were welcome to sleeping w/pets if you used your own linen & explained to him that we are just trying to protect our guests with allergies. I am not sure if that was just an issue with you or not. But the issues you mentioned are basic requirements for having pets or intentionally disregarding the rules.
We try to make it enjoyable & comfortable for everyone who comes & it seems like this isn't a good fit for you. We're sorry you feel rules weren't necessary but, if there were none or even those you enjoyed the benefits from, you would have had much bigger complaints.
We wish you the best & thank you for coming!

Great!
Posted Jul. 27, 2023 on HomeAwayThe property was exactly what we needed for an annual camping trip that needed some upgrades. The waterfront was great and even though there are three other cabins we rarely saw another person. We were a little talen aback by the pious movies and pamplets

Kelsey,
It was great meeting you guys and we appreciate you taking great care of Pheasant Cottage and the property. The privacy and seclusion is awesome isn't it!
I'm assuming that the "pious movies and pamphlets" you are referring to, were the Christian information? I'm not sure why you would be "taken aback" from that as it simply explains different aspects of the Holy Bible, which is in most hotel rooms and even cottage rentals. It is just information that you can enjoy while you are there or you can even take home with you if you would like for free. We are a Christian family and, though statistics show that 98% of those who profess to be Christian, are not (they have reduced the Gospel to attending a "church" building on Sunday mornings and being nice!), we are told that salvation is only through Jesus Christ and we stand "condemned already", apart from Him (Jn 3:18). And, if we, as genuine Christians, believe this and knowing that our children will follow their parents, this is the greatest responsibility we have as Christians is to offer the Gospel that gives eternal life. This is how we love God and how we love our neighbors. But, we just offer the information for free to our guests, along with the Holy Bible. You are free to read or watch them or to ignore them, along with the Bible. I'm sorry that you or your guests were offended by the literature. But, it only has the same information that the Bible does.
Thank you again for visiting us and we hope to see you again! (Let us know ahead of time if you are going to bring any tents so we can plan on a little rain! :) )
Thank you Kelsey!

Beautiful and Peaceful
Posted Jun. 26, 2023 on HomeAwayThe host, Brian, is very friendly and accommodating. The trials are just a short drive away. When we weren't riding, the lake was a great place to fish or just relax and enjoy the wildlife.
