Our house, Bakki, is the perfect base for your Icelandic holiday. Have a memorable day at SnĂŠfellsjökull National Park, visit a natural hot spring like Deildartunguhver, or amazing waterfall like Hraunfossar. Other interesting places to visit are, the active volcano GrĂĄbrĂłk, the crater Eldborg, historical viking landmark Reykholt, and taking a walk into the glacier Langjökull. You can stroll through the nearby cozy town of Borgarnes and drop by the cafe’s, museums, shops and restaurants. Take a drive to the capital ReykjavĂ­k with all its glory, nightlife and culture. Make a day trip on the Golden Circle and see the exploding Geysir with all its natural power, and drop by the historic Thingvellir National Park, and view close up the beautiful Gullfoss waterfall. In the evenings you will always come back home to this modern architecturally designed house in HelluskĂłgur and the first thing you might do is, relax in the hot tub and enjoy the views or the Northern Lights in the peace and quietness after a memorable day.

The house has an open kitchen-living room with a large kitchen island. It is very spacious and ideal for family and friends preparing a good meal together. The kitchen has all necessary tableware and high quality equipment for cooking and baking. The living room has floor to ceiling windows and an amazing view. Even if you are inside it feels like you are still completely connected to nature. In the living room you will find books and magazines to read, films to watch on the large flat screen TV. The bedrooms are cozy and comfortable with high quality beds and a beautiful view. The main bathroom is spacious with a long wooden countertop and a large shower room.

The design of the house is outstanding and well thought out. It has floor to ceiling windows, open space, hardwood floor, natural stone tiles, designed lighting and with one of the most advanced and environmentally friendly floor heating systems installed in houses today. The heating system is perfect and we can guarantee you a warm and cozy house in the winter time. The house is designed by one of our best architects, SigurĂ°ur HallgrĂ­msson who designed many of our spectacular modern houses in Iceland.

On the large patio surrounding the house is a nice hot tub that fits up to 7 people, outdoor shower, outdoor kitchen with a barbecue grill and comfortable outdoor seating. The patio is perfect for making a good meal and relaxing in the peaceful environment. Beside the house is a grass lawn which is surrounded by a birch forest, ideal for kids to play.

We have been connected to Borgarfjörður since childhood and would like to share good advice and information about the house or the area so don't hesitate to send us an email request about anything you would like to know and we will do our best to help you.

The place was easy to find with directions and was perfect. The boys and my husband used the hot tub, it was clean and worked well. There was a handy outdoor shower. Just an exquisite home -- beautifully designed, clean, and well maintained -- that's in the perfect location for exploring the Snaefellsness Peninsula! It's an easy drive to both the north and south coasts that take you to some of Iceland's most iconic locales. Borganes is an easy 10-minute drive to get provisions. We were a group of seven, including three school-age kids, and the home gave us more than enough room for both private and gathering space, and the kids loved playing outside. The kitchen is well equipped (a must for me -- the cook!), and the hot tub was a welcome amenity at the end of a long day of hiking and exploring. Another sensory bonus is the mountain vista out the front door -- watch for sunsets!

Unhygienische KĂŒchenausstattung zu Hochpreisen

Leider sprechen wir aufgrund der von uns gemachten Erfahrung keine Empfehlung aus! Wir hatten diese hochpreissige Unterkunft (Nacht ca. 400) fĂŒr 4 NĂ€chte gebucht, in dem Glauben einen hohen Standard zu buchen. Vor Ort stellten wir am ersten Abend leider fest, dass wir weder die Pfannen benutzen, noch auf den Grill ausweichen konnten, da diese so verschmutzt waren, das sie nicht benutzt werden konnten. Das selbe galt leider fĂŒr den Backofen und Mikrowelle, Kaffeemaschine, etc. (Fotos, dass wir nicht ĂŒbertreiben zur Verdeutlichung anbei). Der erste Abend war somit mit Essenumplanung (wir hatten uns ja auch bewusst diese Unterkunft ausgesucht, weil wir gemĂŒtlichen zusammen kochen/grillen und in Ruhe genießen wollten) verdorben. Die Vermieter haben uns dann lediglich um 21.00 UHR (viel zu spĂ€t um dann noch mit dem Essen zu beginnen!) zwei Pfannen vorbei gebracht und uns angeboten, am nĂ€chsten Tag die Wohnung reinigen lassen. Sie haben es leider nicht verstanden, dass wir im Urlaub, an den wenigen Tagen und bei diesem gebuchten Standard keine Lust hatten, uns nach Reinigungspersonal zu richten und ein Abend von den vier mit Ärger und nicht Nutzen können geprĂ€gt war. Nach Hin und her und viel Schweigen seitens der Vermieter wurde uns eine geringe Erstattung zugesagt, die auch nach Wochen nicht bezahlt worden ist. Das Haus ist rĂ€umlich sehr großzĂŒgig, wenn auch an einigen Stellen "in die Jahre" gekommen (teilweise kaputte Möbel, Whirlpoolbeleuchtungund und Funktion nicht komp

Perfectly Comfortable Home

Coming from the US, we were pleasantly surprised to find this home had everything we have at home, making for a comfortable stay. House is spacious, clean and has ample room for 5-6 people. A peaceful setting with tons of privacy, great views too. Host was responsive to any question we had. Would absolutely stay here again and HIGHLY recommend!

Amazing First Iceland Trip

We are a group of five friends who planned this trip almost two years ago. We had to pick off season due to our schedules. The weather/wind in Iceland was the worst it has been in 10 years, and we briefly lost power. Our host brought us a generator, coffee, pastries, and kept us updated every step. They checked in on us often and responded immediately to any questions or concerns. They have a very detailed book on property with instructions for everything. The house is amazing and stayed warm even when we didn't have power. It's beautiful, perfectly cozy, and well equipped for all that you could need. The town of Borganes was nearby and we loved being away from the big crowds. I loved Iceland so much, everyone was friendly and the environment is second to none. I can't wait to come back, and I would absolutely choose this host again!

Comfortable remote stay in Iceland!

My family stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our holiday Iceland trip from the states. The host had great communication and was very prepared with check in and home instructions. The place was very clean and we felt very comfortable during our stay. We only wished we stayed a little longer to be able to see all the sights in the area. Would definitely recommend renting this home for an experience outside of the city.

Beautiful Peaceful Home

We were very comfortable in this beautiful home outside of Borgarnes. Away from the city lights, we were able to relax and enjoy the northern lights from the comfort of the hot tub! The home is in a great location for exploring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and is well appointed with everything we needed! The hosts are very responsive and communicated promptly when I had a question. Would come back and stay in this lovely home!

Beautiful home in a beautiful location

We went to Iceland to try to catch the Northern Lights and were blessed to have been able to see them from this beautiful home! We enjoyed the well stocked kitchen, spacious design, and comfortable furniture! We didn't use the hot tub as we expected to but hit up the (sort of) nearby Krauma hot springs. We really appreciated our AWD with studded tires as the road to the home was very icy on many days. Everything was as expected and advertised. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home!

Wonderful modern house

The house is timelessly modern, clean and very well equipped. It is in a remote location with little light-pollution, ideally to watch northern lights - if there are. The host is very responsive and easy to communicate with. We'd love to come back if we have the opportunity!

Wonderful!

Plenty of room for 7 adults to spread out. Fantastic windows and comfortable gathering space. New kitchen and appliances making it very easy to prepare meals.
