Beautiful porch with great view on clear day. Nicely decorated but with 4 suitcases and two teenagers it was a bit tight. The bedroom walls donât go up to ceiling so thereâs no privacyâŠâŠ
Canât understand why they canât provide coffee pods when charging so much. The dirt road to place is very long especially at night. At the same time they did let us check out later than their 10am checkout and were helpful when we arrived super late at night. Overall, Iâd still recommend but better for couple:)
Pictures of the property don't do justice to this place. We stayed in Cabin 1 and it is beautiful! The cabin has a deck all around with an outdoor dining area, gas grill and private sauna. The main living area has the living room and kitchen and it is beautiful, full of windows up to the ceiling and very spacious. There is also a loft with a futon bed and its own TV.
When we turned off the highway, on to the dirt track and it said 12km to go, we knew we were in for something special. The location definitely exceeded our expectations. Right under cliffs and looking out over the heath and completely hidden from the other cabins. On the deck and in the living room, you can see birds flying in and out of the caves on the cliff and hear meadow birds at the same time. The spacious kitchen and dining area made for a splendid cabin cooked dinner.
The cabin has two bedrooms and can technically sleep four people, as long as they are couples or small. We used the sofabed as an additional bed to make it comfortable for 4 people.
We stayed in late May. The cabin was wonderful and easy to find. We visited the peninsula as a day trip. Did a day in Borgarnes - Blomasetrio Kaffi, and the Settlerâs Centre. Had lazy days of relaxing and enjoying the amazing views.
Die Unterkunft war einzigartig, schön ruhig und hatte eine Top Ausstattung. (Super sĂŒĂe Tassen und schöne Teller) Man konnte direkt von der Terrasse aus die Nordlichter sehen. Die Sauna war auch super. Alles was man zur Entspannung braucht.
Adorable cabin in remote location. Definitely need AWD and experience driving in the snow to get to in early March. Wish we could have stayed longer and used the sauna.
Very cute and stylish cabin and great instructions from the property owners. However I felt the cabin needed some updating and some more cleaning - the washing machine had a very foul smell. The road to the location is also quite long and bumpy.
Very nice authentic country side cabin in rural Iceland. Views were phenomenal couldn't have asked for a better stay in our last Icelandic destination.
The road to this cabin was a very long, secluded, bumpy dirt road. We came across a couple who had gotten a flat tire on the road which made me very nervous because it was just my daughter and I solo on this trip. That aside, the cabin was beautiful. Spacious and cozy with everything you worked need for an extended stay. The couch in the living area was very comfortable and so was the bed. We loved the cabin! If youâre looking for something off the beaten path this place is great! If you are not a fan of being in the middle of nowhere Iâd say probably not for you. All in all we really enjoyed it
These cabins are very remote! Its a long drive along a gravel road that has some significant pot holes. We had a 4x4 so managed fine but did take it easy.
Owners emailed a property pack over which was super detailed including how to access the property, how to locate to, facilities provided in it etc.
The reception areas were large and well furnished. Bedrooms tiny but comfortable enough. We struggle with any kind of decent flow from the shower but able to put that into perspective given location.
The things that could be better include the cleanliness. There were so many crumbs on floor, dining table etc from before us. The have a cleaner service the properties between stays but i suspect this is focused on linen changes mostly and general cleaning is left to guests.
The property pack warns nothing is provided in terms of tea and coffee. Given the remoteness this feels a bit mean. All other self catering places we stayed at included these basics. In reality, these things were there but probably as a result of previous guests.
Guests are expected to strip linen before they leave etc. Again, not unusual but not upfront with it either. The set of guest rules for this place is lengthy and only shared once your booking date is close. The least relaxed of all the self catering places we stayed at and with the earliest check out time. Appreciate they explain why that is, but still an inconvenience ultimately.
Shared garden with cabin 2 - worth noting if you expect privacy
If you want solitude this is your place to escape all the machinations of our world.
Property owner provides a plethora of things for you to do. You can grill outside on the deck, watch the stars or aurora, read a book inside the cozy cabin, play a deck of cards, cook almost anything in the fully stocked kitchen or just cozy up on the sofa or loft.
Our only concern is the long 7km drive on the gravel road to reach the property. Can be a bit bumpy if youâre only used to smooth tarmacs. If youâve got an suv or pickup should be fine. Small cars take note.
Tak tak!
Cosy Cabin is the rightful description, a bit of an adventure to find, but once you are there the surroundings the details in the cabin are wonderful. Rustic style of an old Icelandic summerhouse. Well worth the stay.
Great property in a peaceful and quiet location, great fir stargazing and the local town is 30 mins away, the hosts were very good and communitative and included a great guide. Highly recommend this place, I will be back!!
