Called eight times and waited almost 2 hours for someone to check us in. Called corporate twice and was hung up on without ever being answered. Property view was gorgeous. Unfortunately, we won't ever be able to enjoy it as we won't be returning. We were told by another person staying there that the only way to get anyone to answer is by calling the police. I am happy to report that we did not do that.

Nobody knew what they were doing. The place still smells of cigarette smoke from where I assume the rooms used to be smoking rooms. The bathroom tile was broken and cracked all over the place. When we checked in the person admitted that they were subbing for someone else which is fine, but then didn’t seem to know what they were doing. They were also the one cleaning the room so our rooms were not ready. They also left the cleaning supplies in the room. The ice machine was broken. The vending machine was broken all in all. I’m very grateful that we only had to stay there for one night.

Our stay was exactly what we wanted: quiet, remote, nature, and a bonfire on the river! We’ll definitely be back. If you’re looking for a quiet getaway with no frills, but a homey and cozy experience, this is it!

My husband and I were spending our first anniversary weekend here, and when we arrived the first night, for the most part everything seemed fine and the receptionist was very friendly. She let us know that the sliding door might not be working in the room and advised us that we may be able to get a discount through the site we used (Expedia) for that, which was lovely! We had no problems with this, and were enjoying our night until after I'd fallen asleep, my husband woke me up to show me he had found a bed bug in the bed, when I saw it it was crawling across his pillow. We took pictures and left immediately, tried to contact the front desk but it was about half past midnight so no one was available. We found another hotel to stay in and came back the next day to explain the situation, the same receptionist was there and was very friendly and understanding again, and immediately worked to issue a refund through Expedia. The experience with the bed bugs was horrible, and after we realized there had been other reviews of bed bugs prior, but we had not read them. I'm giving 2 stars only because the lady in the office remained kind and professional throughout the ordeal, however I cannot recommend anyone to stay in this hotel knowing that they have bed bugs!

Our ten pound dog was welcomed by attentive staff making check in easy. The motel is well worn and dated with smoking left overs outside. The heating was old but worked well and controlled well. The beds were very comfortable and the place quiet and dark.

Pool was under maintenance (but it's too cold for swimming anyways) so that didn't bother me. For the most part it was peaceful and relaxing (except for the noisy children from the Polar Express - you could easily hear them running and stomping around through the walls)
