They have swimming that used to be in the price payed to use now they charge £5 to use All rooms to get to have a mountain of stairs with no lift to help disabled people some carpets in halls are terrible there dirty and trip able as not secured down. The room we were in was incredibly hot all times and so dusty unbelievable the breakfast wasn't worth the money I had cooked full English it was poor greasy did not taste fresh at all the amount that was given was enough for a young child in the dining area it looked like it needed a deep clean curtains were filthy the floor was filthy and sticky all grime everywhere wasn't worth the money. We also bought the dog and when booked they told us one price to then be told when we got there that it was double the price and we had to pay it instead of original price. Also it's no longer a lavinda hotel but notice that they were still addvitising that they still did the lavinda the whole hotel needs to be updated and deep cleaned and proper fitted carpets and a use of a lift not forgetting they need to restrain on how to cook a full english

We needed to move rooms because ours was full of dust all over the wallpaper and the curtains which set my husbands asthma off. We were moved to a room with a cold shower. We weren't informed that the policy had changed and the spa was no longer included in the stay. The only positive from our stay was that all the staff were friendly.

Lovely clean hotel but beware the kingsize bed

Lovely check in, really pleasant staff at the hotel however the ‘ kingsize’ bed was 2 singles that zipped up in the middle, every time we moved, we rolled into the dip so had an awful night sleep. Did explain this at check out, the lovely young lady apologised which was kind but we wouldn’t stay here again in a kingsize bedroom

The room we stayed in was clean. The view we had was of a brick wall! The bed was comfortable however the room/ hotel was far too warm. The bathroom was ok however the shower was poor not much more than a dribble. The public areas were decent, however the rest of the hotel was tired and in need of a substantial upgrade and modernisation

No towels in the room on arrival. Couldn’t call reception as no phone in the room so quite a trek up and down stairs to reception. Continental breakfast - no croissants, no fruit even though menu listed them. Arrived back from a day out to find bin emptied but nothing else had been done in the room. Very disappointed.

Check in was easy. Room felt like it was in the basement and really dark. I had to use a torch to look in the suitcase. Room was hot and no fan. Paid for breakfast wished I hadn’t was told new chef all they could offer of egg variety was fried no scrambled or poached. Eggs came out swimming in the fat it was inedible. Don’t think I’d stay again definitely needs some serious tlc

Not for me

The first time we stayed here on our trip up, none of the extras i had added were on the reservation, they didnt even have the dog added to the system. We were told the cheese board etc would be on the stay on the way back, so when we stayed again i asked about it at check in, only one of the extras had been added. Ok, fine, paid for it - never got it. They knew what room we were in, had my phone number, no reason they should have made me pay for it and then not receive it. The only redeeming quality about this hotel is the wonderful gentleman who hosts breakfast, he deserves a raise. Polite helpful and very friendly man, he was very appreciated.

Very dated in places and with TLC the hotel would be amazing. Rooms are big but furnishings and fittings are tired! Shower was very poor and just a trickle. Leisure facilities in the spa were OK (small pool). Breakfast was OK. Staff were freindly and service was good. As we were leaving we were told on that day the hotel was under new ownership and about to go through a major upgrade and revamp (if done well this hotel would be amazing). It is well placed with Burnley and Nelson both within 2 miles

One night stay

Arrived at the hotel and was given Room 366 out of 366 Rooms for some reason - when the hotel wasn't at capacity. Potentially something that was meant to spite myself and amuse the portly receptionist, who if had there been a problem wouldn't have been able to make half the stairs I was assigned to navigate. There was no lift and you can only imagine how many steps there were. The hotel itself is dated and needs upgrading but the room was adequate and despite a large hair on one of the pillows on the bed I did sleep fine. Having read previous reviews on the hotel and breakfast here I wasn't expecting much but the two servers (especially the young chirpy girl) who where pleasant enough. The contential spread was okay. The problem came with the cooked breakfast which is of really bad quality and / or tastes really bad. If they changed the oil and ingredients the breakfast would be alot better. I do think a fair cooked breakfast would help this establishment but unfortunately it's dire. They should change the ingredients immediately. I had to leave most of the food and took some fruit instead. With this being a last minute trip I had limited options but to stay here. The redeeming feature is the onsight fitness centre and spa where the locals are friendly and welcoming in the evening.
